The TEM image of 5 wt.% Cu/OMS-2 Pre-Dep as shown in Figure 1 confirms the small Cu-particles in the range of 2-3 nm with uniform dispersion. The effects of crystallite size were investigated in the hydrogenation of LA to GVL. LA conversion and GVL yield for 20, 10 and 5 wt.% Cu/OMS-2 (Pre-Dep) increased significantly as compared to Wet-Imp catalysts. From this correlation it was confirmed that LA hydrogenation to GVL is structure sensitive and when the size of the Cu-particles participating in the reaction changes, there is a major change in the LA conversion and GVL yield. Significance: Herein, we have demonstrated the effect of the size of Cu NPs for liquid phase hydrogenation of LA to GVL using mild reaction conditions and water as a solvent. We also demonstrated effective size control of Cu NPs for structure sensitive reactions. References 1. L. T. Mika et al.Chemical Reviews,2017,118,505–613
