Springate Central Laser Facility, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell, Oxfordshire, UK HiLUX is a £17m investment by the UKRI to upgrade ultrafast laser facilities at the CLF. Beginning in April 2023 HiLUX will see development across the ULTRA and Artemis facilities with investment in new light sources, detector technologies, and improved digital infrastructure providing new experimental opportunities for modern science. This upgrade provides a unique opportunity for UK research and industry communities to move beyond the current limiting of existing technology, making significant impact across many disciplines including photovoltaics, battery science, fuel cells, catalysis, energy-efficient electronics, and drug design. In this presentation, highlights of the proposed new technical capabilities for both the Artemis and ULTRA are showcased, alongside expected impacts on our user communities.
