Land Management
This week staff had to rally and assist with recovery at Englewood Beach. Last weekend powerboats came to Charlotte County and raced at the beach! When not assisting with beach efforts Land Management staff conducted multiple exotic/invasive treatments on several properties. Species treated includes, but not limited to; B. pepper, carrotwood, java plum, date palm and snake plant. Properties include Bill Coy Preserve, Amberjack Environmental Park and Cedar Point Environmental Park. As the seasons shift so do the operations in Land Management. With grant reports completed and ready for submission staff have been gearing up for habitat restoration/enhancement and fire preparation. Tasks include organization, inventory, and maintenance of equipment. Staff have been busy organizing equipment yards and sheds. Multiple tools were repaired and are now ready for work in overstory reduction and habitat restoration. Staff assisted with a separate event at Ann and Chuck Dever Regional Park on the weekend facilitating access for the event.
