COVER STORY

Word of God says about me, what it says I can do, and what it says I can have,” he says. “It’s not always easy. Sometimes it feels like a fight because my old mindset still wants to lead. But renewing the mind is worth the effort.” Though he didn’t initially set out to influence future generations, Dr. Hodge recognizes that a renewed mindset can have far-reaching effects. “I never thought about shaping minds

for the next decade,” he admits. “I was simply being obedient to the Holy Spirit. But if readers truly apply these biblical principles—in leadership, education, or innovation—they will begin to think and act like Christ.” His work has already drawn attention from publishers and ministry leaders, who call Mindset a powerful teaching tool. “That feedback has been humbling,” he says. “It confirms that this message can truly help people.”

Beyond his authorship, Dr. Ellis R. Hodge brings a rich tapestry of experience. A retired U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve veteran, he went on to work with GTE/Verizon before dedicating his life to ministry. He holds multiple theological degrees—including a Doctor of Divinity—and serves as Senior Pastor of Word of Life Fellowship Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. His life and marriage of over forty years to “Complacency is the enemy of us all,” Dr. Hodge warns. “It convinces us that change isn’t possible. But as Proverbs says, ‘As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” his wife, Teralyn, stand as testaments to his commitment, faith, and consistency. If readers take away just one thing from Mindset, Dr. Hodge hopes it’s this: change is difficult, but possible. “If you want a new mindset, you must accept the responsibility of transformation and diligently apply yourself,” he says. “God has already given us the tools—it’s up to us to use them.” Dr. Hodge continues to teach and lead with the same passion that birthed Mindset. A possible sequel, tentatively titled Mindset: Open Your Mind to New Possibilities—Part II, is in the works. “I’m still on this journey myself,” he says. “Renewing the mind is a lifelong process. As long as I’m growing, I’ll keep helping others do the same.” Dr. Ellis R. Hodge’s book, Mindset: Open Your Mind to New Possibilities, is available through major retailers including Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
