Alita Carbone Pays It Forward
TOTALVOLUNTEERS 639
For Alita Carbone (IAC 09-11), Interlochen was one of the first places where she felt truly accepted. The Camp core values, including discipline, work ethic, and resilience, also proved vital in her career as an investment banker and venture capitalist. She gives back to Interlochen by serving on the Centennial Committee and supporting the Annual Fund. Alita and her “best friend for life,” Katharine Priegues (left, IAC 07-11), whom she met at Camp, are pictured. “Interlochen taught me how to cultivate lasting, authentic, and meaningful friendships and relationships with people from all walks of life, a skill that has proven invaluable throughout my career in finance. I continue to support Interlochen so that others can access the unique, transformative spark that Interlochen provided me.” — Alita Carbone (IAC 09-11)

VOLUNTEERS | Giving Back Every Way They Can
Interlochen volunteers also include those who answer phones during IPR fundraising drives, sew costumes for stage performances, support fundraising and stewardship efforts, and engage with potential students and parents individually and in outreach events nationwide. We could not be more grateful for the large measures of time, talent, and spirit that all our volunteers bring to our campus and around the world.
There are countless ways for Interlochen supporters to make an impact. Some community members, like those featured on these pages, seem to find almost every way they can to give back to Interlochen. On campus, Interlochen’s Green Vest Volunteers serve a variety of essential roles as ushers, horticulturalists, tour guides, and more. 511 members of our community donned the green vest this year, 73 of them first-year volunteers.
Many thanks to our fabulous volunteers! Interlochen is enriched by your dedication, enthusiasm, and tireless, multifaceted efforts to support our mission.

They met each other at Interlochen, which led to their marriage and ultimately to sending their daughter Ariel (IAC 08-15, IAA 15-17) to Interlochen. As teachers, they frequently recommend Camp and Academy to students. And they keep finding new ways to give back. Katherine and Michael also frequently give their time. Katherine has volunteered for Act for Art and served on our Annual Funds Committee, New York Engagement team, and Academy Class Ambassador and Class Representative teams. Michael has given recitals and master classes on campus during the Academy year and has made in-kind donations of new bass clarinets for Interlochen students.
You might call them Interlochen “superfans.” For Katherine Cooke (IAC/NMC 84-85, IAA 85-86, IAC/ NMC St 86, 89) and Michael Lowenstern (IAC/ NMC 79-84, IAA 84-85, IAC/NMC

“We give back because Interlochen has been so important to us over the years. We met there over 40 years ago, made lifelong mutual friendships, and received the best foundation in our musical training. We still call upon the seeds that were planted so many years ago as we work with students of all ages and in our own playing.” — Katherine Cooke (IAC/NMC 84-85, IAA 85-86, IAC/NMC St 86, 89) and Michael Lowenstern (IAC/NMC 79-84, IAA 84-85, IAC/NMC St 85-86, 88)
