The superintendent o f Indian missions for a large denomination, upon investigating Camp Wycliffe, said em phatically : “ This effort, if properly guided and developed, will prove to be the greatest thing for the evangelization o f primitive peoples that our generation has seen.” C all for F ive H undred Y oung M en God has raised up Camp Wycliffe through a remark able chain o f guidance too long to give in detail here. I f di vine leadership was ever evident in the launching of an enterprise, it was in this. Men burdened for unevange lized fields and active in efforts to reach them had to be brought to recognize that it was God’s solution to a seem ingly impossible problem. The camp being entirely a work of faith, the Lord’s support has had to be sought each day, and it has never been asked in vain. The plan is to serve every missionary organization which desires to advance into pioneer fields. Tw o o f last summer’s students are now with the Central American Mission among two different Indian tribes in Guatemala. Four o f this summer’s encamp ment (1935) plan to go out to as many different tribes in the fall or early winter. May they be the vanguard o f five hundred young men with strong bodies and consecrated hearts as well as good academic and Bible training—men whom God will raise up during the next few years in answer to your prayers and ours to go to the unevangelized tribes o f earth, to learn their languages, and to translate the Bible for them. May we count on your prayers to this end ? Will you not pray for every agency which is endeavor ing to give the message o f salvation to those who have never heard ? The Apostle Paul never begged, in one sense, and yet he did, in another. Notice his appeal: “ So have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named . . . . Now I beseech you, brethren,’ 1 . . that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me” (Rom. 15 :20, 30). W e likewise beseech your prayers for Camp Wycliffe and the Pioneer Mission Agency. Dr. Bauman’s Articles F or many months, Louis S. Bauman has been furnishing for readers of

them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17 :17). “ If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” (2 Tim. 2 :21 ). “ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly . . . Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it” (1 Thess. 5:23, 24). His part is to work the miracle of cleansing, ours to realize the need and yield to Him for the cleansing. A D ivided S ea “ And divide it”— now we come to the actual perform ance of what God told Moges to accomplish, an impossible task humanly speaking, but “ all things are possible to him that believeth.” The third requisite for Moses, and for the Lord’s servants today, is faith in the omnipotent God. Without such faith, cleansing is impossible, empowering is impossible, and therefore God’s work in such a servant’s hand will prove powerless to lead God’s people out of bondage into the land of God’s choosing for them. Moses, cleansed and empowered by God, had faith in God that if he did according to His commandment, there would be no failure, for God would undertake in making possible the impossible. “ Is any thing too hard for the Lord?” Noth ing ! “ Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord [not Moses] caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground.” Thus they passed out of bondage to a land where they could serve God and taste of His goodness in everything. Servants of the living Christ, “ Have faith in God” ! There are three essentials for each servant of God as the age is drawing to a close and as the forces of hell, op posing God’s forces, are trying to destroy His work in every land. There are three qualities that will make us di viders of the sea instead of speakers only. Those who not only can say, “ Go forward,” but who actually can open the sea before His people are those who possess : The sanctifying and cleansing o f the blood o f Christ. The empowering of the Spirit o f Christ. The faith o f Christ, a living reality for life and service. In these days when Red Seas o f all kinds are before His people to hinder their progress, may God make us just such servants! May He bring us face to face with our respon sibility -in such a vivid manner that we will not be satisfied until we have the necessary qualifications for service— then forward let us lead His hosts through the divided sea! Several Christian leaders have recently visited the camp and are agreed that it is a very important step toward has tening the occupation of unevangelized regions o f the World for Christ. One o f them, a member o f several for eign mission boards and treasurer of a great Bible Insti tute, wrote back as follows: “ After a careful personal study of Camp Wycliffe and the training it affords, I am convinced that it is truly God’s plan for effectively reaching the unevangelized multitudes with the precious gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” A prominent Bible teacher expressed himself concern ing the camp in these terms : “ This is the most practical thing that I have seen for preparing people to be missionaries. A similar training camp should be established for young ladies.” ONE THOUSAND TRIBES WITHOUT THE GOSPEL [Continued from page 367] O pinion of a M issionary E xecutive

the K ing ’ s B usiness some remarkable articles on prophecy as it is being ful filled today. Because of pressing con ference work in the East, Dr. Bauman has asked to be relieved o f the writing of his usual contribution this month. But he has already sent an especially fine message for the November issue, entitled “ God’s Plan for Our Age,” which will be the first o f two articles on this subject.

“ By the way,” Dr. Bauman wrote in a personal note sent to the editorial department, “ I think no article that I have ever written has brought me so much favorable com ment and has excited so much intense interest as has the one in the August issue [“ Fascist Hosts Are Marching: To Ethiopia, or Armageddon?” ]. Letters are coming from every direction asking questions about that article. A good many readers are puzzled as to why the Scriptures relate that ‘Ethiopia’ will march with Gog into Palestine when, according to my article, Ethiopia is to be overthrown by the Roman prince. It is too bad that I did not explain that more fully. If the readers would read Ezekiel 38 in the Revised Version, they would note that it is not Ethiopia, but Cush, that is in view, and Cush was the ancient name for a prov ince in Southern Persia. If it is not too late, you might mention the fact that this matter will be straightened out through a note from me in connection with the next issue.”
