Jo, “ Come, let me tell you how you may have beautiful hands.” Mary Jo didn’t hesitate a moment to accept the invitation. Perhaps Dr. Rae could tell her how to have hands like Eileen’s—soft as silk. Soon they were seated in the comfortable living room of the Lee home. Dr. Rae reached for the Bible and took it reverent ly in his hands. “ God has many things to say’ in His Book about hands, Mary Jo,” he began. “In Isaiah 59:3 and Haggai 2:14, defiled or unclean hands are mentioned. Here the word ‘hands’, refers to the whole body as well as to a particular member. Any one who has never received the Lord Jesus' as Saviour and been washed in His precious blood is in His sight unclean and defiled. As God looked down upon the hands o f all' the people o f the world, He found them all unclean, for in Romans 3 :23 we read: ‘All have sinned . . .’ But Psalm 24:3, 4 says: ‘W h o :‘shall ascend into the ‘hill of the Lord? or who shall ’stand in his holy place ? He that hath clean hands,- and a pure heart.’ “How, then, are unclean, defiled hands to be made clean and pure ? This is the wonderful part, Mary Jo." God ffasjipro- vided a way. As we read on in this.. precious Book, we find the pierced hands o f Someone—and that One is the Lord Jesus. You remember the story, don’t you, o f how, at the end of His earthly life, He went to the cross to die—for you* Mary Jo, and for me ? His hands'were pierced with cruel nails. When unclean hands are brought to the pierced ones of the Lord Jesus as the sinner asks to be'Torgiven, those defiled hands . are made pure and clean: ‘And the blood o f Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin’ (1 John 1:7). “Have you ever received the Lord Jesus as your own Saviour, Mary “Yes, I have, Dr. Rae. I let Him come into my heart at Sunday-school last Easter.” Mary Jo’s-face shone with joy as; without hesitation she told about when she had asked Jesus to save her. “ I’m so glad—I’m so glad, Mary Jo. I thought you had done so, but I wanted to be sure. Then your hands are clean hands in God’s sight, no matter what the children at school say. “ They are holy hands, too, for God’s Word speaks ’ of hands that have been washed in the blood of Jesus as ‘holy’ (1 Tim. 2 :8 ), Pure, clean hands become useful hands, as they do kindnesses to other people for Jesus’ sake. These are the hands that are beautiful in His sight, Mary Jo, and I’m glad that your hands are beautiful to Him. It is better to please Him, you know, than your dearest friend. The Lord knows and remembers the many ways you serve Him with your hands here in your home. And surely you will continue to do s o ! This is your missionary field just now. ‘Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in- the name of the Lord Jesus’ (Col. 3:17).” Dr. Rae had hardly finished speaking when Mrs. Lee called, “Dinner!” It was a happy-faced Mary Jo who took her place at the table. Mother saw the change and smiled her thanks to Dr. Rae, who started up the old song as they, stood about the table: “Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of Thy love.” —M. John by reading a chapter each day, and that he loves the Word. Our club verse is Psalm 119:11, you will remember. Let us repeat it often: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Let us obey it, too, by not only reading the Word, but by giving it a real place in our hearts and lives as well. Josephine, one of our new K.Y.B.C. members, writes, “I am a girl twelve years old . . . I accepted Christ as my Saviour about four years ago, and I want to know more about Him.” Victor, who lives in Santa Barbara, Calif., in writing for his K.Y.B.C. pin, says in a postscript to his letter, J‘I was saved about a year ago.” Kathryn, another new K.Y.B.C. member, says, “I am eight years old . . . I let Christ come into my heart two weeks ago.” : What preciousf- news these letters brought! How the heart o f the Lord Jesus rejoices when a boy or girl accepts Him as Saviour! When He was here upon earth He gave His invitation to the children in these words: “ Suffer the little children to come.” Come to Him today, boys and girls. His Word also says: “ Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6 :37). Please continue to write to me, and be sure to tell me whether or riot you have re ceived the Lord Jesus as your Saviour. —Y our E ditor . How to Join the K. Y. B.
