FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION THROUGH OIL PAINTING

This class presents Art History with storytelling and a thematic approach. Instead of presenting art through a chronology, each lecture will present art within a particular theme, such as art about portraiture, art about food and shelter, and art about nature and technology. By focusing on a theme for each class, we hope to show that there are ideas that we humans find important across the distance of time, space, and cultures. This class also gives participants the opportunity to make art based around each of these themes. Supplies: 11x14 drawing pad, Color pencils. Code: DAP 06 Instructor: Chris Hall Location: Library

This class is designed to guide students to find their inner artist and explore conscious and subconscious ideas – much like painters throughout history have found inspiration. The class is suitable for all levels and includes basic instruction for using oil paints as well as composition, subject matter, and concepts.
