Canaan Hotel SLOW STAY
The Efrat Kisoss Machlis Studio , which has engaged in the field of hotel design for 18 years, was entrusted with the design of the Canaan Hotel: “The author Meir Shalev wrote in his book Yona Ve- naar: “When you find the new place,” my mother instructed me, “check it out in the morning and in the evening, during different hours and in different seasons... you have to examine the range of sounds and smells, she explained. Measure the rise of heat in the roof and the creep of cold from the walls, record the sunset and sunrise schedules, the sunclocks and wind through windows”. In the studio in Herzliya we were required to fashion a design that combines the present and the past of the Land of Israel, with a precise concept before our eyes: a cabin in the forest. The forest is an Israeli grove. The fascinating location of the hotel overlooks the view of the Galilee, Hermon and Kinneret mountains. In winter the hotel is sometimes covered in white snow. Teak wood wraps the walls of the hotel, the reception desk is made of rocks cut in a local quarry and a rainbow of colors in green and brown tones accompany the elements we carefully designed - both in the public areas and in the rooms. The design of a natural grove wraps around the hotel exterior (studio YSLA is responsible for design of the landscape). We wanted nature to appear as it is: without “organizing” it. The hotel is one glorious celebration of design, fun, natural and calm vibe.”
