2022: Connecting Africa’s ecosystem enablers to strengthen its innovation economy

Events as a tool for collaboration and advocacy

Since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, events across the world took new forms, leveraging digital and virtual innovations to recreate physical experiences. However, in 2022, we saw more on-site meetups as the pandemic lockdowns and restrictions ended, and the world returned to almost hundred percent normalcy. AfriLabs organised more events and physical activities in the last year, compared to 2020 and 2021. This helped bring the community together, encouraged collaboration and knowledge sharing. We also had a couple of virtual events too that provided platforms for insightful dialogues on topics that affect the innovation economy in Africa and drive change in the same ecosystem.

“In the last year, AfriLabs events have shifted from opportunities not only to convene the African technology and Innovation ecosystem but an avenue to build African Instituions through collaboration, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy and Government engagement turning our events to become focal points for change in Africa.”
