Fowler and Crow Named Fort Payne Ledger Leaders

MONTANA FOUTS SKILLS CAMP - University of Alabama softball standout Montana Fouts will be hosting a two day skills camp at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville. The event is set for June 20-21 from 5-8:30 p.m. both days. The cost for the camp is $320 and the registration form can be found on online at www.montanafoutscamp.com. 7v7 FOOTBALL - Sand Mountain Park in Albertville is hosting a 7v7 football Showcase. This is part of the Sand Mountain Park Series and its a partnership with Douglas High School. The All-day event will be held on July 13, 2023 at Sand Mountain Park. Registration is open until Friday, June 2 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL KICKOFF CLASSIC - Selma and Beauregard will officially open the 2023 high school football season in the 18th annual Kickoff Classic on Thursday August 24 at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl, Opelika (5-5) and Thompson (13-1) will play on Friday, August 25 in the second game of the annual classic. Both games will be at 7 p.m. Last fall, Helena defeated Chelsea 28-6 and Auburn downed Hoover 17- 14 in the 2022 Kickoff Classic games. SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMPS - Snead State will host a series of softball camps in June. On June 5-6, the program will host an Elite Camp for ages 12-18, and a One-Day Camp featuring two different sessions open to all ages on June 12. Elite Camp (Ages 12-18) | June 5-6, 2023 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The Snead State Elite Camp will challenge you to learn new skills, improve your softball IQ and apply those tools in a competitive setting. You will have the opportunity to work with Snead State and the coaching staff on all phases of our sport: offense, defense, base running and pitching. Within each phase, you will learn and execute physical and situational drills to help you translate your softball skills and knowledge to winning games. These camps will also cover player development strategies that the Snead State softball staff use to train confident and successful student athletes. It is a two-day camp that's held 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. The cost is $200. One-Day Camp (Open to all ages) | June 12 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and from 1-3 p.m. The Snead State One-Day Camp is open to all ages. The camp will challenge you to learn new skills, improve your softball IQ and apply those tools in a competitive setting. You will have the opportunity to work with Snead State and the coaching staff on all phases of our sport: Hitting, Pitching and Catching. Within each phase, you will learn and execute physical and situational drills to help you translate your softball skills and knowledge to winning games. Fielding and Defense will be from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Hitting will be held from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $50 per session. Open Tryout on May 31 from 6-8 p.m. Prior to the scheduled camps, Grindrod said an open tryout for 2023 and 2024 high school graduates was set for May 31 from 6-8 p.m. To register, email Grindrod at tracy.grindrod@ snead.edu. Prospects must provide an updated physical to be eligible for the tryout. CALHOUN COUNTY CHAMPS - The Piedmont Softball program recently defeated White Plains 8-7 to win the 2023 Calhoun County Softball Championship. TENNIS CHAMPS - Boaz High School tennis standout Anderson Lambert recently won the 2023 Marshall County #1 Singles championship. Anderson and teammate Isaac Butler also won the Marshall County #1 doubles. FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP - Sardis High School senior Garrett Burns will continue his athletic career next year at the collegiate level. The Lions' standout recently committed to play football at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. GOLF SCHOLARSHIP - Plainview Senior Luke Smith has signed a Golf Scholarship with Northeast Alabama Community College. BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP - Scottsboro's Tyson Sexton is headed to Montevallo to play college basketball. The senior point guard recently inked the papers to make the move official for next fall. By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Valley Head High School three sport standout Kolby Depree is representing the Tigers' program on this year's Ledger Leader list. Kolby plays basketball, football, and golf and has maintained a 4.2 academic GPA at Valley Head. He is the recipient of the Tiger Pride Academic Football award and he was a member of the schools' Region 1A champion team. of the Key Club, Student Council Class President, a Peer Helper, and a FCA leader. She is also a member of SADD and FBLA. Outside of school she is a Grace Presbyterian Youth member. Additionally, she is involved in numerous community service projects including: Fort Payne Ice Rink, Bread of Life, Read Across America, Operation Christmas Child, Backpacks of Blessings, Pancake Day, CAC Dinner Theater, Save-A-Life Banquet, Elementary Field Day, Track Meet Volunteer, Wreaths Across America, and a Spring Grove Nursing Home Volunteer. By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Fort Payne High School standouts Nolan Fowler and Emma Crow have both earned 2023 Ledger Leader honors from The Sports Ledger. Nolan is a three sport student athlete for the Wildcats and he sports a 4.2 academic GPA. He is a member of the Baseball, Football and Basketball teams at FPHS, where he has earned several awards. In baseball, Nolan has earned awards for the most stolen bases, highest on base percentage and the highest batting average. In football, he earned the Power Cat award and is in the school's football top 3 GPA. In basketball, he has the highest free throw percentage. Outside of sports, Nolan is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, FCA, and Mu Alpha Theta. He is a junior class representative and a Peer Helper. Additionally, he is a First Methodist Youth Member and Praise Band Guitarist. Emma plays varsity soccer at Fort Payne and she has a 4.4 academic GPA. She is the Treasurer

Kolby has earned Hustle Player Award, All-County Honorable Mention, and the DeKalb All-County Golf Team group award. He is a member of the the basketball Science Club, Beta Club, Peer Helpers, and President of the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). Additionally he is a dual enrollment student and volunteer for youth basketball camps. He also plays AAU basketball with Terrence Hill.
