Protect Your Future Safeguard Your Golden Years Today 561-955-8515 SiegelLawGroup.com
Many of us felt like we were borderline invincible when we were younger: Our health was in peak condition, and life was just waiting for us to take control and chase our dreams. Our only limitations were those we placed on ourselves, never considering that we were actively in a race against time. Yet, time waits for no one. We’ll all grow older one day, whether we’re willing to accept this truth or not. Aging can be an unsettling experience for anyone, but thankfully, we can take action to make the future seem less daunting while providing ourselves and our loved ones with peace of mind about what’s to come. May is National Elder Law Month, and I
want to share the importance of this facet of law. You may even want to take action right now to safeguard your future. As we age, it can become challenging to manage our affairs or make important decisions due to a declining mental or physical condition. This can be incredibly stressful and frightening. You start to question a lot of things about the future. You may even begin to worry about what will happen to your family. However, you shouldn’t have to spend your golden years worrying about everything. By utilizing different aspects of elder law and Estate Planning, you can feel peace of mind about the future while making important decisions to put yourself and your family in the best position going forward. Once many enter their golden years, one of the biggest concerns is where they will spend the rest of their time. While we’d all love to age comfortably at home, it’s not always possible. You could have health problems that require around-the-clock care that becomes too overwhelming for your loved ones to manage. You might have to explore the idea of entering a long-term care facility. By working with an elder law attorney, we can help you secure your long-term care needs by preparing for potential health care issues and helping you gain access to necessary services. This is just one of the many plans we can implement to help you gain peace of mind about the future.
Another strategy we highly encourage all of our clients to explore, regardless of age or current health condition, is creating a comprehensive Estate Plan. Through your Estate Plan, you can determine who gets which assets, name the individual responsible for your health care and financial decisions if you cannot make them yourself, and much more. If you do not have an Estate Plan or it’s been some time since you last updated it, you should contact us as soon as possible. This is not something you want to leave to chance. When you work with us for your elder law needs, we’ll also take extra precautions to protect your assets and wealth. Many American seniors fall victim to financial abuse and exploitation, but we can establish legal documents to protect you if you ever become incapacitated. We can also help you navigate and qualify for Medicaid without having to sell off all your assets. My team and I are committed to providing solutions for your unique situation based on our expert legal knowledge and experience. We’ve helped many people with their elder law and Estate Planning needs, and we would love to do the same for you!

You work hard throughout your life to earn enough money to retire comfortably and leave an inheritance to your loved ones. How do you ensure that money stays protected as retirement age approaches? Your best path forward is to establish a Retirement Trust, also known as an IRA Trust. A Retirement Trust is a tax- advantageous legal arrangement that provides a protected distribution of your assets to your beneficiaries. A Retirement Trust is unique, allowing you to name the Trust as the beneficiary of your retirement accounts. Traditional Trusts do not offer this option. If you have significant retirement account balances and want control over the distribution of funds, a Retirement Trust is a great option for your Estate Planning efforts. It can help safeguard your funds from lawsuits, bankruptcy, divorce, or high-spending beneficiaries. When you establish a Retirement Trust, you’re creating a foolproof plan to fulfill your wishes for your assets. If your beneficiary goes through a divorce or faces a lawsuit or even bankruptcy, the funds you set aside in your IRA Trust will not come into play. Your Retirement Trust effectively shields these assets from potential claims or lawsuits. Without a Retirement Trust, these funds could diminish quickly. It’s also a great option if you have beneficiaries with disabilities who rely on government assistance programs, as you can provide extra funds without impacting their asset or income limitations. Setting up your Retirement Trust can be complex, so you should never try to do it independently with an online service. You don’t want to risk messing this up because it can have lasting impacts on your retirement and your family’s future. When you meet with our team to begin the process, we’ll evaluate your retirement accounts, assets, and potential beneficiaries to create a Trust that fits your needs. We’ll also ensure your Retirement Trust aligns with your overarching Estate Planning goals. Retirement Ready Why a Retirement Trust Is Key to Protecting Your Legacy

BUDGETING BEYOND THE BASICS Teens have buying power, making up a large portion of sales with online retailers and popular companies like Target, Sephora, and Grubhub. Young spenders want convenience, fast deliveries, and access to everything from concerts to gaming consoles. But they are also thinking about larger investments like cars, vacations, and college. As teens and young adults seek financial independence, they are working with financial planning apps like Current to help them create a budget and achieve savings goals. DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT Surprisingly, SOME of Gen Z are stepping away from constant screen time and social media updates. They seek more personal interactions and an escape from the stresses of crafting the perfect life on Instagram. Gen Z is tracking their time on apps, prioritizing social time or groups, and taking steps to prevent the urge to doom scroll. Apps that make it more challenging to use social media through programmed interventions like HabitLab and Moment hold them accountable for their social media habits.

When you think about common Mother’s Day gifts, most people buy flowers or jewelry and take their mom or the mother of their children out for a nice meal. This is a great way to show your love and appreciation for the most important women in your life, but don’t you wish you could do more? If you want to make a big splash this Mother’s Day, consider creating an Estate Plan to ensure the mothers in your life are cared for if the unimaginable happens. By establishing an Estate Plan, you create a safety net for your loved ones if anything happens to you. This means you can set aside assets for your wife or mother to ensure they don’t experience a decrease in their quality of life if you pass away or become incapacitated. This is also a good time to discuss your mom’s Estate Plan with her and make sure she has established one. It might seem like a strange time to bring this up, but it shows you care about your mom and her future. Estate Planning isn’t just about providing beneficiaries with specific assets; it allows you to gain peace of mind about the future while laying out your wishes. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms in our community! You worked diligently to raise your children and help them grow into responsible adults, so you definitely deserve a day of celebration! Give the Gift of Security Estate Planning for the Moms Who Do It All
A special occasion in May gives us a chance to celebrate one of the most important and influential people in our lives — our mothers. These women brought us into the world, clothed and fed us, and helped shape us into the people we are today. Motherhood is an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience. No tried-and-tested guidebook shows mothers how to be perfect in their role, but the vast majority do a great job while making it look easy. This Mother’s Day, give the mothers in your life a gift they’ll appreciate for years to come!

Cooking Up a Timely Remodeling Plan
A Recipe for Renovation Tips for a Well-Planned Kitchen Upgrade
A great kitchen is the secret ingredient to the perfect home-cooked meal, but it might be the ideal time for a remodel if yours feels a little bland. Whether your cabinets are stuck in the past or your kitchen decor is beyond its best-by date, a kitchen upgrade can take you from groans to gourmet. But before you start whisking up big plans, it’s essential to devise a solid strategy to keep your project from boiling over. Let’s get cooking! RESEARCHING THE RECIPE Whether you want to handle most of the project yourself or hire professionals, it is essential to do your research. Decide what aesthetic or specific features you want to focus on so you can provide examples to
contractors or start getting inspiration online. If hiring a professional, look at their portfolio to see if their qualifications match your kitchen goals. Get several quotes to compare and find the right team for your remodel — or do it yourself. PLANNING WITH A FULLY BAKED BUDGET A kitchen remodel can be costly, with an estimated average cost of about $25,000. To create a perfectly baked budget, keep in mind the size of the space, your desired materials, and how drastically you want to change the layout. If you plan to remove walls or install new flooring, you must increase your budget. You can keep your costs down by tackling many of the tasks DIY-style with budget-
friendly materials. Carefully consider big purchases, like new appliances or an island, but don’t forget to calculate for the little things, like nails and hardware. PREPPING THE PERFECT PLAN Once you know your goals and budget, create a project timeline and plan. Choose the cabinets, appliances, decor, and other items you want, as well as backup options, so the project stays on track if a product is delayed. Record different measurements in your kitchen, like counter heights, so you have that information handy. If you are making structural changes like plumbing or electrical, contact your local municipality to apply for permits.
