Contents

The University of Sheffield is a truly special place, with a bold and ambitious future. A leading global university renowned for the excellence, impact and the distinctiveness of its research-led learning and teaching across a wide range of disciplines, we are home to 30,000 of the brightest students and over 8,000 staff from more than 140 countries around the world. We want Sheffield to be an international centre of excellence for centuries to come, so we recruit ambitious, creative people from across the globe and we nurture their talent. The Department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is the largest Professional Services Department at the university, employing over 720 staff across a range of professions and specialist areas. Now is an exciting time to take up a leadership role within the department. Following my appointment as Director of Estates and Facilities Management in March 2024, EFM is entering a transformational period with further leadership appointments that will shape the team and culture for many years to come. There are exciting challenges ahead, with the development of a new estate strategy, significant capital investment, drive to net zero, asset management and space optimisation, engineering and maintenance delivery, and campus services provision.

The Associate Director of EFM: Property, Strategy and Business Support is responsible for leading on the University’s approach to the effective management and utilisation of space, property and land across the university’s large-scale and complex portfolio, which services as a crucial enabler to the realisation of the University’s Vision and Strategic Plan. The remit of the role also includes leadership on estate data information management, to inform strategic planning and decision making. The role calls for a leader that is a natural collaborator with excellent stakeholder management skills as well as being inventive yet data-driven in their approach to deliver property solutions that benefit end users and create value. If you would relish the chance to play an integral role delivering the vision of a world-class estate to support the University’s world-class ambitions, we would be delighted to hear from you.
