We have rarely seen a woman so enthusiastic about sports. You have been called the Queen of the court, what it feels like to be a part of domain no woman is ever allowed to or pursue by willing? Whatever I am today is because of sports. Sports has given me lifetime memories and learning’s at a very young age. It taught to be a strong individual and how to lead by life with dignity and respect. It feels great to do something apart from the crowd and thriving to be the best in it. I’ll always be proud of the fact that I wore my country flag on my chest and my family name at the back of my jersey which I represented my country at an international platformbeing the youngest captain of the Indian netball team.
Well it’s not a choice to be the captain. It’s an honour which one gets only when your coaches / senior officials think you can play the part well at the biggest level of representation in sports. It’s obviously a great motivation and extremely tough at the same time to have many additional responsibilities to handle other than focusing on your game. It’s about taking the team together with you in the same boat. What motivated you to be the captain of the Netball team in commonwealth games? QUESTION 02 It feels great to give back to the society. I can never forget the camps I have had with these NGOs promoting the sport. And the number of kids we trained. It was a learning process for me that how innocent and vulnerable these kids are who don’t even get basic facilities to play at a young age. They deserve to be supported by NGOs and big companies who are capable of providing basic infrastructure to these kids to go out and play. You are also the brand ambassador and mentor of Jaipur Foot and Netball development trust India. How do you see yourself in this position contributing towards your own community? QUESTION 03
