tion. The newer A.G. Stacker is behind our [Bobst] Master- line DRO. This Stacker is a XRI V2.0 and was installed by A.G. three years ago, also as an original OEM specifica- tion.” Alvarez added that Royal also opted for A.G.’s bun- dle breaker and load former technology on the same line, which, in his words, “allowed us to run all side discharge items on one line, streamlining our process and minimizing touches.” Alvarez echoed Adrian Pooran’s focus on safety fea- tures, as well: “Keeping our people safe is our number one priority,” he said. “The safety features that came with our A.G. equipment, like the SICK eye light curtains and proper location for lock outs, allow us to do just that.” Alvarez lauded the sample discharge feature, saying, “The new line has allowed us to minimize material han- dling by utilizing the stacker’s sample discharge, so sam- ples from the production run do not have to be pulled from the end of the stacker: they kick out with the simple push of a button without disrupting the machine feed.” As a postscript, Alvarez commended A.G.’s customer support and its alignment with Royal Containers’ culture of continuous improvement. “Whether it’s by adding new equipment, updating or modifying what we currently have, we are always looking for ways to improve,” he said.”A.G. aligns with Royal; hence our partnership.” A.G.’s team of mechanical, electrical and design engi- neers is headed up by Randy Senger, Senior Application & Design Engineer, and Eric Stempihar, Automation Senior Design & Project Engineer. Both gentlemen are eager to demonstrate for visitors to A.G. the company’s unique dig- ital technologies—DUO Digital Twins which allow design collaboration, training and service support; SIMCORRA plant simulation which allows customers to simulate their own production lines to find bottlenecks and ensure ef- ficiency of plant layout; and GOAG digital applications which provide machine training and documentation of processes to eliminate “tribal knowledge.” The GO AG application also provides digital manuals, drawings, training modules and connection to A.G.’s ser- vice, among other features. For Mike Alvarez of Royal, these digital tools are an im- portant part of A.G.’s collaborative approach to its custom- ers, especially with employee training and support. “A.G. has always provided us with the training, guidance and service that keep our machine crews appreciative of our partnership,” he said. Investment In ‘Supply Chain Control’ When Wunder joined A.G. in 2017, one of the first items on the agenda was, “What is the direction of the compa- ny?” The goal was, in Wunder’s words, the “future-proof- ing” of A.G. “I sat down with the Allens and talked about our direc- tion, and one was digital transformation—future proofing the company in a sense of diversifying.” The other, he said,
