STAYING STRONG IN A WORLD OF CHAOS
MY HOPE FOR LASTING PEACE IN THE NEW YEAR
As we close the chapter on another tumultuous year, the reverberating cries for global peace have never been so loud. Two conflicts underscore the urgency of this call: the war in Ukraine and the ongoing Israeli- Palestinian conflict. The Russian Federation has waged a nearly two-year war in Ukraine, destabilizing the region and escalating geopolitical tensions. The cost is not just in military terms but in human lives, torn apart families, and decimated cities. ”Global citizenship goes beyond borders; it’s a mindset that values peace, equity, and sustainability, emphasizing our collective responsibility to make the world a better place.” Simultaneously, with its recent flare-up between Israel and Hamas, the Israel- Palestinian conflict is another dark reminder that peace remains elusive. There have been humanitarian calls for immediate ceasefires that have gone unheeded. These conflicts are more than just news stories; they’re a testament to our collective failure to secure a peaceful world for ourselves and future generations. The displacement of 750,000 Palestinians in 1949 and the division of territories continue to haunt peace negotiations. Meanwhile, misinformation often exacerbates these conflicts, fueling a vicious cycle of hate and misunderstanding.
These are just two of the crises currently playing out in our world. There are untold problems both here in the U.S. and around the world. It is so easy
aim for an economic system that benefits everyone rather than a select few.
Cultural Understanding: Respect for different cultures and viewpoints
to become engrossed in our daily lives and forget about the rest of the world. The attacks of Hamas on Israel and the following attacks on Gaza show how unstable our world is. As we look forward to the prospect of a peaceful new year, it’s critical to understand the importance of being good
is key to a peaceful world. Good global citizens actively seek to understand and celebrate diversity.
Educational Inclusion: My final wish is for global citizens to promote educational opportunities for
all. Education fosters a culture of peace and non-violence and is a cornerstone for building better societies. Global citizenship is not just a lofty ideal but a necessity for peace. By embodying the principles of justice, environmental care, prosperity, and education, we can inch closer to a world where peace isn’t just a wish but a reality. As the year ends, let us pledge to be more than bystanders. Global peace is not the responsibility of a select few; it’s a collective obligation. Whether supporting diplomatic efforts or combating misinformation, we each have a role to play. After all, a conflict- free 2024 doesn’t just happen; we have to build it, one peaceful action at a time.
global citizens. Global citizenship goes beyond borders; it’s a mindset that values peace, equity, and sustainability, emphasizing our collective responsibility to make the world a better place. Promotion of Equity: One of my wishes is to promote social justice and equity. Global citizens work towards eliminating disparities, understanding that the suffering of one impacts us all. Environmental Stewardship: In the face of climate change, responsible environmental practices must be a priority. My wish is for global citizens to lead by example to make our planet more sustainable.

Factors such as your diet, hydration, and stress management play a pivotal role in the health of your hair. To achieve gorgeous locks, consider these lifestyle choices that are proven to have an enormous impact.
to Daily Dose, individuals should aim for at least eight glasses of water daily.
Proper Scalp Care A healthy scalp is the foundation for lustrous hair. Keep your scalp clean by washing it regularly with a gentle shampoo. However, avoid overwashing and using harsh chemicals that can strip natural oils and lead to dryness. Regular Haircuts Trimming your hair every 6–8 weeks helps prevent split ends and breakage, promoting optimal hair growth. Regular haircuts also maintain the shape and appearance of your hair. Stress Management Chronic stress can contribute to thinning hair and damage. Incorporate stress-reduction techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or yoga into your routine to improve your hair’s look and feel.
Silk or Satin Pillowcase A silk or satin pillowcase can reduce friction and prevent hair breakage while sleeping. Additionally, tying your hair up in a loose bun or braiding it can minimize tangling and friction. By adopting these practices, you can promote the health and vitality of your hair. While it may take time to see noticeable changes, consistency with these lifestyle adjustments will contribute to stronger and shinier hair over time. Remember that healthy hair is a reflection of your overall well-being!
Balanced Diet A diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and
nutrients is essential for healthy hair. Aim to include foods high in protein, iron, omega-3 fatty acids, and biotin. This includes greens, nuts, eggs, fish, and lean meats such as chicken and fish. SLEEP APNEA’S NEGATIVE EFFECT ON YOUR TEETH Seek Early Treatment to Avoid Permanent Damage
Tooth Loss and Age Factors Interestingly, there is a relationship between tooth loss and a high risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), especially in adults under 50. The reason for this is not entirely clear, but it could be that tooth loss affects the mouth’s structure, making breathing more difficult during sleep.
Sleep apnea affects your sleep quality and poses a significant risk to your oral health. Sleep apnea’s impact on dental health is multi-faceted, from causing dry mouth and contributing to dental decay to being a potential underlying reason for bruxism and tooth loss. The bidirectional relationship between sleep apnea and oral health signifies the need for integrated healthcare approaches considering both aspects. Treating sleep apnea through CPAP machines, lifestyle changes, or surgical options can also mitigate its dental side effects, making a strong case for early diagnosis and treatment. Breathing Through the Mouth and Dryness One of the initial ways sleep apnea can affect your dental health is by causing you to breathe through your mouth. This leads to mouth dryness, a significant contributing factor to dental problems like plaque build-
up, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. When saliva production decreases due to mouth breathing, the mouth’s natural ability to cleanse itself and neutralize acids from bacteria is compromised. The Role of Bruxism Sleep apnea often co-exists with bruxism, a condition where you clench and grind your teeth during sleep. This repetitive action can lead to worn down teeth, increased sensitivity, and may result in cracked or broken teeth.
The Importance of Treatment Untreated OSA or non-adherence to
treatment can result in a poorer quality of life and increased risk of illness and mortality. This makes treating sleep apnea critical, not just for respiratory and cardiovascular health but also for maintaining good oral health. Potential Signs in Oral Health If you have sleep apnea, it may manifest as dental issues before you even realize you have a sleep disorder. Disorders like teeth grinding and symptoms, like dry mouth or unexplained tooth loss, can be early indicators of sleep apnea.
