The Rutland Centre
The Rutland Centre is a residential and outpatient addiction treatment centre based in Dublin, serving individuals and families from all over Ireland. A registered charity, it has been in existence for over 45 years and in that time they have treated over 10,000 individuals for their addictions to alcohol, substances, gambling, food, sex and pornography. At the Rutland Centre they believe that addiction is a disease that affects the entire family, and so they focus on ensuring that recovery also benefits the entire family. During treatment they include family members in the process and also support them throughout the two-year period after treatment ends, thus trying to ensure that everyone in the home achieves their own recovery. Their services include a 35-night residential program, a 10-week outpatient program, and up to two years of an aftercare program. The program is overseen by Consultant Psychiatrist Dr John O’Connor and led by Head of Clinical Services Emma Kavanagh. Their clinical team is comprised of expert addiction counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, nurses and social care workers.
Would it surprise you to learn that a large proportion of the people they treat are in employment? Are in steady relationships, often with children? Are business owners, professionals, third level educated? They are pleased to be able to deliver seminars and webinars to organisations who wish to raise awareness about addiction, and how it might present in the workplace. They can also support organisations and HR departments in creating a pathway into treatment for employees or their loved ones, and importantly, a pathway back to work thereafter. Our current challenge is meeting the ever growing and ever urgent need of families to get their loved one help. In the period ahead we hope to open a new detoxification unit to help meet the emerging needs for people quickly, and to improve their likelihood of long-term recovery. We are actively looking for opportunities to build new relationships with corporate partners in the period ahead to help us build the service to address the needs of families.
