cretion; it is the very opposite of stu pidity, ignorance and folly. Surely such a man as Bezaleel, with the complex task of building the tabernacle before him, needed such wisdom. Every servant of God needs it as he faces life and the forces of the world, the flesh and the devil. See James 1:5; 1 Corinthians 1:30. I Have Commanded Thee (vv. 6,11) The divine will was made clear to Bezaleel. What he did had to be after the plans shown to Moses in the mount. In other words, he was to serve in ac cordance with the Word of God as his blueprint. The result of his work would influence the lives of multitudes in the days to come (2 Chron. 1:5). Therefore it had to be done with extreme care. Moreover, it was to be directly con nected with the worship of God itself. It behooves all of us to guide our labors by the Word of God so that blessing will come into the lives of others as they come in contact with that labor. Helps lor the Children An Honest Craftsman (Exodus 31:1-11; 35:30-39:43; 2 Chronicles 1:5) Memory Verse: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might” (Eccles. 9:10). Some Christians believe that only mis sionaries and preachers are “ full-time” Christian workers. Actually, every con secrated Christian, even Christian boys Pointers on the Lesson The Book of Ruth is a literary classic. Its heroine has not only given the name to the book we are studying this week but also to countless thousands of sweet baby girls through the ages. Once when Benjamin Franklin was in Paris at a gathering where the élite of France were ridiculing the Bible, he asked the privilege of reading aloud a short story. Throughout the reading, they all listened with breathless interest and then they insisted that he tell them where he had unearthed that exquisite story. To the amazement of the audience, he told them that he had been reading the Book of Ruth from the Bible. Not only from a literary standpoint is the Book of Ruth a gem, from a spirit ual standpoint as well, it is a treasure. In this week’s lesson, the faith of two women in the Book, Ruth and Naomi, is stressed for our profit. Faith Generates Devotion (1:16-18) Ruth is an outstanding illustration of devotion. Her sister, Orpah, because she had no true faith, merely “ kissed her mother in law” and then turned “ unto her gods,” whereas, Ruth “ clave unto” Naomi and determined to follow her to

and girls, should be full-time Christian workers! They should at all times do their work, their studying, and their playing as unto their Lord, They should always be ready to be His witnesses. When the children of Israel were trav eling to the promised land, God called some of them to serve Him full time in ways that. some do not consider God’s work today. God gave to Bezaleel wisdom and un derstanding and knowledge in all man ner of workmanship. Bezaleel was a worker in gold and silver, brass, stone, and wood. He might have used his skill to make money for himself. He chose, rather, to obey God’s call and to use these talents for Him in building the tabernacle. For many months, Bezaleel and those whom he taught to work, pre pared the tabernacle, its furnishings and the clothing for the priests to wear. Surely these men were in full-time serv ice for their God! Some of God’s greatest servants are secretaries, clerks, carpenters, bricklay ers, housekeepers, newsboys, etc. True, they are not called preachers or mission aries, but they are winning to the Lord Jesus souls who would never go to church to hear a preacher. They are preaching sermons that no minister or missionary will ever have an opportunity to deliver. Paul said, “ Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Surely any Christian who obeys this command is in full-time service for his Lord! Bethlehem. Ruth’s action was only the outward expression of the change that had taken place in her heart. She had found the true God, and from that time on she desired to be closely associated with the people and the things of God. Such is the result of true faith. If there is no devotion in the life for the people of God, for His house, and for His service, it can be seriously ques tioned whether there is any real faith. Faith results in “ following after thee” (16). It says “ I will go” (16). “ Faith without works is dead” (Jas. 2:20). Faith is Associated with Redemption ( 2 : 20 ) The man in whose field Ruth gleaned was “ near of kin” unto Ruth and Naomi, even “ one of our next kinsmen.” The word here used for kinsman is the He brew word goel. This brings to our at tention ' all that the word kinsman-re deemer implies. It indicated that Boaz was in a position, by blood relationship, to redeem the estate of Elimelech and to fulfill the duty of a kinsman by marry ing Ruth. In order to be a legitimate redeemer, a man had not only to be a near kins- T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
