LOVE LIFE IN UNIVERSITY PARK
IF YOU WALK along Purdue Avenue, you might spot Dave Stephenson and Therese Tetzel out enjoying the neighborhood they’ve proudly called home since 1997. What first drew them to University Park—and what’s kept them here for nearly three decades—is the classic neighborhood feel: sidewalks, walkable shops and restaurants, and a strong sense of safety and community. Both originally from Ohio, Dave grew up in Cincinnati and Therese in Akron. Their paths eventually led them
to Texas, where they built long careers before retiring. Dave earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical engineering, while Therese pursued a business degree and spent her career in marketing and sales roles within industrial corporations. These days, she especially enjoys running MPower Girls Camp, a nonprofit close to her heart. Their home is shared with two cats, Dash and Violet, who keep things lively. While Dave and Therese
don’t have children, they fill their time with activities they love. Dave enjoys skiing, solving math puzzles, playing the piano, and traveling. Therese stays busy traveling, exercising, reading, cooking, and hosting gatherings for friends. They’re often outdoors, walking the Katy Trail or spending time at White Rock Lake. Dining locally is another favorite pastime, with Royal Thai, Rex’s Seafood, Bar Sardine, Kuby’s, and Half Shells high on their list.
