DO YOUR RESEARCH When on the phone arranging your interview, do a little interviewing yourself. Ask about the interview process, with whom you will be interviewing (it could be one person or a panel) and how long the interview is expected to last.

Ask if you can be sent the full job description and inquire if the company needs any additional supporting documentation from you. Companies often have multiple locations, so be sure to get the physical address of the location your interview is taking place. Find out if there is a specific place you should park or a particular door to enter. Also, make sure to ask for the best number to reach the interviewer in case something prevents you from arriving at the scheduled time. Study the company’s website, social media presence, media releases, annual business reports, and any other pertinent material you can find. Good sources for finding that information were covered in Chapter 2 , but generally you will be able to find what you need by searching online, visiting your local library and asking for assistance from staff at a CareerForce location near you. MATCH YOUR SKILLS TO THE JOB Once you’ve gathered what you need to know about the employer, look at the job description again and study how your skills, experience and employment history match what the company requests. You likely did this same thing when developing your resume for this position. Review what you developed and work on ways you can highlight why you are the best fit for the job during your interview.
