WORK SAMPLE INTERVIEW This type of interview gives applicants an opportunity to show what they have done at previous jobs. Office workers may be required to complete a business letter using specific software, facilitators may be asked to give a presentation and a welder may be tested on joining two pieces of material. If you are given advance notice of what you will need to accomplish, you can ask what equipment or materials you may need to bring you. These could include handouts, a laptop or safety equipment. PEER GROUP INTERVIEW This is an opportunity to meet and talk with your prospective coworkers. This type of interview allows employers to get feedback from staff on how a potential hire would fit into their workplace. As in all interviews, make sure to address your answers to the person who asks the question, not just the person with ultimate hiring authority. GROUP INTERVIEW This type of interview takes place with a group of candidates, who are being assessed at the same time. Introduce yourself to other applicants and, of course, be polite. Try to show confidence by volunteering to respond first to a few questions, but do not dominate the entire interview. To show your ability to be a team player, compliment another candidate’s response and then build on it with your own thoughts. Maintain occasional eye contact with members of the group and don’t forget to smile.
