MEGAN YORKE’S APPRENTICESHIP JOURNEY

TALENT AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, OAKWOOD OFFICE

My career started with Yusen in November 2019. I applied for the Talent and Development Administrator Apprentice role after studying for a year at sixth form. Upon my successful interview, I was offered the Apprentice role, which enabled me to study whilst working and being paid, my Business Administrator Level 3 Qualification. Throughout the duration of my Apprenticeship, I was a full-time working member of the Talent and Development Department, having my own responsibilities and duties. Each week I was given 20% of my working hours back to complete the coursework and off the job learning for my apprenticeship. After completing all my coursework, I then had to do my end point assessment. This was the final part of the qualification, involving an interview, a multiple-choice test and creating and presenting a presentation on something I had implemented throughout my apprenticeship, that had positively impacted the company. In January 2021, I successfully completed my Business Administrator Level 3 Qualification, achieving a distinction and therefore finished my Apprenticeship. Following the completion of my Apprenticeship, Yusen offered me the role of the Talent and Development Administrator. I carried out this role until November 2021, when Yusen then promoted me to Talent and Development Coordinator and also offered me the opportunity to become a Yusen Mentor. ” Megan Yorke Talent and Development Coordinator

Megan quickly became an integral part of the team and since joining has continued to take on additional responsibilities at an accelerated pace. The apprenticeship allowed Megan to grow skills and confidence in the workplace, develop her communication to people of all levels in the business and get real experience of working in a busy office environment. We couldn’t imagine our department without her and is now the businesses preferred knowledge source for our department. Clair Royle Talent and Development Manager “ ”
