Course for New Christians Due to the large number of requests, the Correspondence School of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles has added a "primer” course in Bible Study intend ed for the new Christian. The course is entitled "Studies for New Christians” and is designed to answer some of the questions that come to the mind of the new convert. It is equally profitable for that Christian who has been in the way longer but who has never discovered a systematic way to dig out some of the elemental truths concerning the Christian and his relation to God. The course is a guide, using the Bi ble itself as a text book. The value of the course lies in its helping to or ganize the thinking of the believer so that he can understand better the en tire plan of salvation. The complete course of 10 lessons may be had by sending $1 to Corre spondence School, Bible Institute of Los Angeles, 558 South Hope Street, Los Angeles 17, California. Please ask for Course No. 22. OBJECTS: A fluffy bfoll of cotton and a cracker. (Fasten one of these objects at each end of a white thread about a yard long.) LESSON: Did you ever play “Follow the Leader” ? Wise people have been “following the Leader” for many centuries. This ball of white cotton will remind us of the cloud by which Israel was able to “follow the Leader” in the wilderness. When the cloud of God’s guidance lifted and moved, the children of Is rael moved too. It is interesting to notice that where the cloud led, God’s children were fed. In Exodus 16:14, 15, we read, “And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilder ness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.” As I lift this cloud up high, you will notice that there is a cracker attached to it. Where God led them, He fed them. It is true today that God still guides and provides for His chil dren. In thinking of the manna which the Lord gave the children of Israel, it is well for us to remember what Christ said. “ I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from hea ven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread, which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:48-51). God’s guidance today leads people to Christ the Bread of heaven, even as the cloud led the children of Israel to the manna. END.

end of the top bar, making a perfect “ I” when the top bar is cut off. Color the “F” blacky front and back. The in side of the top bar should be white. All below the top bar should be red, making a red cross when separated from the top bar. Fasten with thumb tacks to a wall or blackboard.) LESSON: What do you think this large “F” stands for? “ It is black and black reminds us of sin.” Does sin make one a success or a failure? “Failure.” Yes, we will let this “F” remind us of failure. The children of Israel were in the wilderness without water. They came to Marah where there was water but it was bitter. We read, “And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?” (Ex. 15:24.) Israel was in the place of failure, apart from God’s power. Of Moses we read, “And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet . . .” (Ex. 15:25). The tree which Moses used reminds us of the cross of Christ which brings sweetness to lives made bitter by sin. The Apos tle Paul is a good example of this fact. This pair of scissors will help us to understand what happened to Paul. (Cut the top bar off horizontally where it joins the upright. Unfold it and you have a black capital “ I.” ) Paul was a failure because he was a sinner. Here we have a big black “ I” reminding us of his sin. When a person is aware of sin, God wants him to know about Christ and His power to save. (Open the remain ing part of the “ F” and it will be a cross.) When sinful self comes to the cross, Christ receives and cleanses from sin. It is wonderful to know that all our sins were on His cross. (Put the black “ I” on the cross.) Because of the cross of Christ, Paul
