YUKON LOCATION
CAMPUS LOCATION Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Yukon is approximately 10 miles west of Oklahoma City and 50 miles east of the SWOSU main campus in Weatherford. Located in Canadian County, Yukon has about 22,800 residents according to the U.S. census. It is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Yukon was established after the creation of a partnership between SWOSU and Yukon Public Schools (YPS) on Dec. 2, 2019. The original partnership created three programs. First, YPS made space available for the purpose of offering SWOSU undergraduate and graduate coursework. Second, it established a program in which YPS employees could complete undergraduate and graduate degrees through specialized programs both on the YPS campus and online. The degree completion program was established to allow YPS employees to gain education-related certifications and degrees while still working full time for YPS. Third, it laid the groundwork for a concurrent enrollment program. A subsequent agreement in November 2021 further formalized the methods in which SWOSU and YPS would collaborate to offer concurrent courses to YPS juniors and seniors using dual credit coursework, traditional concurrent courses on the YPS campus, and online coursework. A coordinator position for the Yukon location was created in 2021 to oversee the partnership and facilitate enrollment in all coursework.
CAMPUS DESCRIPTION The Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Yukon campus is located at Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma. Courses are taught at Yukon High School and the Yukon Public Schools Administration Building.
