PHARM 6443 PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION 1 Three-hour lecture. An introduction to basic management and administrative processes essential for pharmacy operations. The role of managed care in the delivery of health care at the local and national level is developed. The interface of pharmaceutical care delivery and managed care policy is examined. PHARM 6451 PHARMACY CERTIFICATIONS 2 One-hour workshop/seminar. Students will complete certifications to gain skills applicable to patient care. Completion of the coursework will result in professional certifications in the areas of Medication Therapy Management, Diabetes, and Point of Care Testing. PHARM 6461 PATIENT CARE SKILLS LAB 2 One-hour laboratory. Students will gain experience with the use of the Pharmacist Patient Care Process including but not limited to patient assessment, pharmaceutical care planning, and communication to patients and other health care professionals. Students will also reinforce literature evaluations skills. PHARM 6504 PHARMACOTHERAPY 3 Four-hour lecture. Predominantly lecture-based course that establishes foundational principles for evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making. Emphasis is placed on clinical assessment, differential diagnosis, therapy selection rationale, prescribing considerations, medication and disease monitoring, and drug interaction management for common acute and chronic conditions encountered in inpatient and ambulatory care settings. PHARM 6514 JURISPRUDENCE Four-hour lecture. Examination of pharmacy law and regulatory affairs, focusing on the ethical and legal foundations that guide the practice of pharmacy. Students will explore the roles of key federal and state agencies, apply relevant laws and regulations to patient-centered care, and develop competencies in promoting, preserving, and protecting public health through ethical and legal pharmacy practice. PHARM 6522 SELF-CARE PHARMACOTHERAPY 2 Two-hour lecture. An advanced course that provided clinical application to support students in patient triage and appropriate use of various self-care related products. PHARM 6533 PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION 2 Three-hour lecture. A more advanced discussion and application of management and administrative processes essential for pharmacy operations and the delivery of health care services. PHARM 6542 PROFESSTIONAL DEVELOPMENT 3 Two credit hour workshop/seminar style course. The focus of this course will be refinement of various professional skills including formal presentation skills and drafting of current resumes/CV, letters of intent, and other pertinent documents. There will also be a large focus on reinforcing knowledge and skills from previous coursework to ensure completion of APPE- and Team-Readiness requirements. This course will also include various reviews and skills for NAPLEX preparation. PHARM 6551 PATIENT CARE SKILLS LAB 3 One-hour laboratory. Students will gain experience with the use of the Pharmacist Patient Care Process including but not limited to patient assessment, pharmaceutical care planning, and communication to patients and other health care professionals. Students will also reinforce literature evaluations skills. PHARM 6904 & PHARM 6914 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – COMMUNITY A & B Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction conducted in an independent and/or chain community pharmacy. The APPE emphasizes continuity of care and incorporates acute, chronic, and wellness-promoting direct patient-care services to
a wide range of populations. Interprofessional communication and collaboration, activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for achievement of curricular outcomes, and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course. PHARM 6924 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – HEALTH-SYSTEM Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction conducted in a health-system setting. The APPE incorporates acute, chronic, and wellness-promoting direct patient- care services to a wide range of populations. Interprofessional communication and collaboration, activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for achievement of curricular outcomes, and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course. PHARM 6934 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – INPATIENT ADULT MEDICINE Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction in an inpatient adult patient care setting. The APPE incorporates acute and wellness-promoting direct patient-care services to a wide range of patient populations. Interprofessional communication and collaboration, activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for achievement of curricular outcomes, and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course. PHARM 6944 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – AMBULATORY CARE Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction in an ambulatory care setting. The APPE emphasizes continuity of care and incorporates acute, chronic, and wellness- promoting direct patient-care services to a wide range of patient populations. Interprofessional communication and collaboration, activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for achievement of curricular outcomes, and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course. PHARM 6954 & 6964 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – MEDICINE SELECTIVE A & B Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction in a direct patient care setting based on student interest. The APPE emphasizes continuity of care and may incorporate areas of acute, chronic, and wellness-promoting direct patient-care services to a wide range of patient populations. Interprofessional communication and collaboration, activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for achievement of curricular outcomes, and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course. PHARM 6974 & 6984 ADVANCED PHARMACY PRACTICE EXPERIENCE – GENERAL SELECTIVE A & B Four-credit hour clinical rotation. A full-time monthly rotation experience (minimum of 160 contact hours) with preceptor supervised instruction conducted at various types of pharmacy practice sites based on student interests. The advanced student selects from a variety of pharmacy practice experiences including specialty areas, administrative, legislative or other non-traditional pharmacy roles. Activities to apply applicable knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the achievement of curricular outcomes and tasks to demonstrate relevant entrustable professional activities will be included in the course.
