ROALD DAHL
At the bottom of a garden in an unassuming shed, with the cur- tains drawn and paper, pencils, coffee, and cigarettes to hand, Roald Dahl would settle down and pen his greatest works. These stories he wrote “not only to recre- ate his own early childhood but to improve on it” (Treglown). By the time of his death at age seventy-four, Dahl had written forty-nine books, had contributed ideas to just under twenty films, and had eighteen awards to his name. Twenty-one of the books he wrote were for children, and all remain firm favourites on the bookshelves of the young and old alike. This catalogue introduces our latest acquisitions of Dahl first editions, including his children’s stories, autobiographies, illustrat- ed poetry, and books signed and inscribed by him.

[42641] £150 In the story, an eight-year-old girl, who hates to see animals killed for fun, develops a special power, similar to that of Matilda. The book was part of a project in which a group of writers were asked to create a story for children with a limited vocabulary. It was later published by Harper & Row in New York under the present title.
