Person Specification The post requires the managerial background and experience necessary to provide professional and strategic advice at a senior management level, to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and the management of change. • Relevant professional background and extensive operational management experience in hard services (engineering, maintenance etc) or wide ranging facilities services. • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent industry experience and membership of relevant professional body. • Experience of leading and managing estates and facilities services provision to a complex, multi-building estate at a senior strategic and operational level. • Significant change management experience and the implementation of strategic improvement plans. • Experience of procuring, mobilising and managing external estates and facilities contracts and services. Successful record of engaging with estates service suppliers and negotiating contracts. • Strong contract management skills, with proven knowledge and experience of differing forms of procurement and contracting methods. Experience in the performance management of external service providers. • Senior leadership experience with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team from senior managers through to operational staff across a diverse range of service areas. • Experience of strategic maintenance planning, delivering compliance, mitigating risk and optimising investment in infrastructure. • Strong ability to communicate complex/technical concepts and opportunities to a business and academic audience. • Proven budgetary and financial management skills. • Experience of high level engagement to develop effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation, acting as an advocate of estates both externally and internally. • Ability to drive outstanding performance and gain commitment through coaching, motivating, energising and inspiring team members. • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills with excellent stakeholder management skills at a senior level.
