3.2.1 Sales Tax Sales Tax revenue for DeSoto grew steadily over the past 5 years, slowing somewhat with the arrival of the COVID pandemic. FY2021’s $10,153,682 represents a 22% increase over FY2017’s $8,306,761. Normal g rowth is expected to resume over the next fiscal year, although near-termprospects are influenced by the lingering effects of the pandemic and uncertainty over inflation and the robustness of the post-COVID recovery. For planning purposes, we will assume annual growth of 3.5% going forward.
