OUR PHILOSOPHY Erica Volkmer, Principal & Founder of Evensen Design, and her dynamic team work closely with clients to define and embrace their style. We love an interior that tells a story - that is collected and not contrived. Our work is layered with texture and interest. A fusion of high and low, because price shouldn’t dictate interest. Our passion lies in designing custom furniture and the relentless acquisition of found items - through travel and curation. Interesting art and artifacts. An antique rug that has lived many lives. And you simply can’t beat an Italian sofa!

OTHERWISE, WHAT’S THE POINT? That’s why we start both our residential and commercial design process with a deep dive thesis on our client’s likes and dislikes, and how they want
their space to be experienced. For our residential clients we ask: Where do you like to sit down with a book?
How do you get ready in the morning? Where do you enjoy a cup of coffee? For our more public spaces, how do you want visitors or guests to feel when they enter the building?
These are the details that matter.

I love lighting. I have an obsession with it. It’s sculptural and artistic, adding layers of high and low moments in design.

COMMERCIAL DESIGN The way we approach commercial projects is mostly from a residential perspective. We really want people to experience the space. To us it’s experiential. It’s supposed to be comfortable, inviting, but also a unique experience. If you’re traveling, you want to have some fun. You want to have something special - but you also want to be comfortable.
