when these comments were ex pressed, but the discussion leader continued around the group. After the group had finished, he sensed that this could be a profitable time for discussion and Bible study if he were to continue on these com ments. He asked, “Now that every one has shared, do you have any comments or questions that you would like to ask any of the oth ers?” Immediately several of them posed questions to the two who had stated that they would not have had Christ crucified and asked "Why not?” “What would you have done?" “What was the purpose of His dying on the cross?" Out of this inter-action came an exciting Bible study as the group explored the reasons and meaning of Christ’s death as set forth in the Bible. The group continued for another hour as they considered and learned more of God’s plan and purpose for mankind as taught in the scriptures. The principles to be followed by the leader are: 1. Arrange the chairs in a circle. 2. Introduce the question to the group. 3. Explain that each member will be asked to respond to the question. 4. Begin the discussion time by calling on the person to his left or right to start. Be sure to give them time to think about the question. 5. Ask for additional comments from the members. 6. Summarize and lead into fur ther discussion or the lesson for the day. Again, do not over-use any tech nique, but vary the methods that you employ to involve your students at the start of the lesson. The two methods suggested here work best with junior high and older students. Some have used them quite suc cessfully with juniors. If you would like additional information on these two techniques, as well as others, see “40 Ways to Teach in Groups" by Martha Leypoldt (Judson Press). If you have questions or topics that you would like answered and discussed, please send your request to Mr. Wright, % of KING’S BUSINESS.
