Major Landscaping Major Landscaping consists of paving, concrete, driveways, parking pads, berms, ponds, pits, retaining walls, site grading, inground pools. Considerations: • Despite anything to the contrary, Major Landscaping within the Right of Way or 1.5 metres (5 feet) of the Pipeline where no Right of Way exists may be damaged or removed by SaskEnergy at the Grantee or owner’s expense if access is required to construct, inspect, maintain, alter, replace or repair the Pipeline, or if a safety concern arises. • See simple structures for information on piles. • See Buildings for guidance on foundations and parking pads designed as future garage foundations. Allowed under the following conditions: 1) Patios constructed of paving stones. 2) Cement pads less than 15 centimetres (6 inches) thick that are not connected to Building Foundations and that have a minimum 2 centimetre (1 inch) offset to above ground pipe at the gas meter. 3) Addition of landscaping materials and structures, such as a retaining wall, up to a maximum height of 0.5 metres (20 inches). 4) Addition to depth of cover, up to a maximum 0.5 metres (20 inches) above original installation depth, including features such as retaining walls and planters. 5) A fire pit where the firebox is greater than 0.1 metres (4 inches) above ground, or if directly on the ground has a minimum offset of 0.3 metres (1 foot) from a Pipeline. 6) Cultivation to a depth of 0.3 metres (1 foot). 7) Hand Digging, or Hydro-Vac excavation, to any depth where depth of cover over the Pipeline and Pipeline Right of Way is maintained, or restored. 8) Mechanical Excavation to a depth of 0.3 metres (1 foot), provided the depth of cover is maintained, or restored, and the Mechanical Excavation is more than 0.6 metres (2 feet) away from the Pipeline. Prohibited: 1) Any Major landscaping that is not expressly allowed above is prohibited. 2) Permanent removal of cover (soil) from over the Pipeline. 3) Foundations or piles 4) Mechanical Excavation Directly Over the Pipeline, or closer than 0.6 metres (2 feet) to the Pipeline unless the location of the pipeline has been visually verified by hand excavation or hydro-vac.
All distances are relative to the Pipeline and not the line locate markers (e.g. flag, stake or paint) and are deemed accurate if placed within one metre horizontal distance from the Pipeline. Visit www.saskenergy.com/planningadigproject
