APPENDIX G – METER INSTALLATION Effective April 8, 2025.

1. Pursuant to this Appendix G, a third party (the “Installer”) is permitted to do customer piping and installation for the installation of a new meter so long as the following conditions are met:

(a)

The Installer is a licensed gas contractor in Saskatchewan;

(b) The meter and associated customer piping and installations have had the piping pressure test completed as per the requirements of section 6.22 CSA B149.1 installation standard; (c) The meter and associated customer piping and installations have a gas piping system free from defects that might cause a hazard to life and property; (d) The site where the installation is to occur is ready, including fully constructed walls and the presence of the required meter mounting location of either 24” x 10” of pressure treated board or palight, or other SaskEnergy agreed upon requirements such as board size and concrete pad from your service application visit. Pressure treated board or palight must be attached to the wall for the installation of the meter, bracket or manifold. For site readiness requirements, please click here; (e) If any of the Installer’s permits are temporary, they must meet Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan’s requirements for re-testing the system, including the piping pressure test completed as per the requirements of section 6.22 CSA B149.1 installation standard. Note the Installer must submit a new Residential Meter Install Request form; (f) A piping verification tag or other means of verfication must be present or be in an accessible location proximal to the work performed as per the Saskatchewan Codes of Practice, CSA B149.1; and

(g)

A Residential Meter Install Email Form has been completed and submitted to SaskEnergy.

2.

A gas meter will not be installed if:

(a)

A dial test performed by SaskEnergy fails; or

(b) The Installer cannot confirm the required pressure test or that the piping is free of deficiencies or defects; or (c) The Installer cannot confirm the site readiness requirements, or SaskEnergy determines the site not to be ready in its sole discretion.
