JANUARY 2023

successful with managing their weight make conscious choices at every meal. If it’s Wednesday at lunchtime, you use that opportunity to make healthy choices about what you eat. This idea made so much sense to me, and it reflects exactly how I feel about New Year’s resolutions as a whole. There is nothing special to me about Jan. 1. I wake up every day and plan to make good choices that will help me advance my goals, whatever they may be. There’s always a goal I’m working toward, whether it’s planning vacations with my kids, making it to the gym four times a week, or making business decisions that help the business grow as rapidly as possible. Success is determined by the small choices we make every day. For this reason, I no longer believe in New Year’s

Every January, individuals from across the globe will set New Year’s resolutions with hopes of improving themselves in the coming year. It’s a time-honored tradition. Still, every year, the majority of people who set resolutions give up on them before they’ve even made any real progress. A recent study from the UK found that 66% of people abandon their resolutions within a month. A survey conducted by Ipsos discovered that 80% of respondents admitted to giving up on their resolutions before the beginning of February. It seems like many of us come up short when it comes to resolutions, so what’s the solution? I used to set down resolutions every year, but I don’t create them anymore. I struggled with my weight throughout my adult life and continually set goals to eat healthier or exercise more often. I’ve been on diets with varying degrees of success ever since I turned 18 years old. I planned to start each diet on a Monday. I told myself that after the weekend, I would make better choices to eat healthier and exercise more often. As you can imagine, this never resulted in the progress I desired. Eventually, I read an article that made me question my habit. The article essentially questioned why one would wait until a Monday to stop making unhealthy choices. People who are most

resolutions. I’ve found it’s much easier to reach my goals if I dedicate time to them daily instead of waiting for a particular landmark, like New Year’s Day, to start making positive adjustments in my life. One of the main reasons I’m able to continually make progress toward my goals is that they rarely change year over year. I have goals for my personal and professional development that never truly reach an endpoint. There’s always room for improvement, and it all comes back to creating a plan to ensure your goals are obtainable. Most people make New Year’s resolutions related to their health or financial well-being, but we’re not going to become billionaires or fit into our size 2 jeans overnight. It’s going to take time and dedication. And keep in mind that the goals you set should be set for yourself without outside influences. Don’t create goals based on what other people have achieved; create them so you can accomplish something you personally want to achieve.

I hope you all find success in reaching your goals this year! Happy New Year!

Lots of people make New Year’s resolutions, and one of the most common themes is improving their personal finances. Whether they set out to better manage their debt, invest more in savings, or budget their spending better, a quick and easy-to-use app on their phone can make that goal much more attainable. Here are five of the best tools to track your spending: MINT CNBC rated this gem of an app the best free budgeting app! Along with extensive budgeting features that sync your checking accounts, savings accounts, loans, credit cards, investments, and bills, Mint can track your expenses and categorize them for budgeting. You can even set limits for each S etting and M aintaining B udgets in 2023 THE 5 BEST APPS TO TRACK YOUR SPENDING

personalized category. The app is helpful for paying down debt, checking your credit score, and saving money. YNAB Instead of tracking past transactions, YNAB is one step ahead and follows a “zero-based budgeting system,” which helps you plan for each dollar earned. When you’re paid, the app assists you in mapping out how much of the income you can spend in each category you set, helping you become more intentional with your spending habits. PERSONAL CAPITAL Used mainly for investments, you can also get some budgeting assistance with this app! Checking accounts, savings accounts, credit cards, 401(k)s, loans, and mortgages can all be tracked and monitored on Personal Capital. The app even offers a net worth and portfolio tracker to help you get more out of your money. HONEYDUE Honeydue is an excellent app for couples because it allows each partner to see and track

their finances, either separately or jointly. It can sync up bank accounts, investments, and loans and organize expenses into custom categories with personalized limits for each. The best part is that despite being made for partners, privacy can be toggled to each user’s specifications. FUDGET If you’d rather not sync up all of your financial accounts, Fudget may be right for you. The app is straightforward, with lists of incoming and outgoing money and a balance tracker. There aren’t any budgeting categories or graphs to interpret — it’s finance at its simplest. No matter what financial goals you strive to achieve this year, an app is an easy and accessible way to get you on the golden road in 2023!

always looking out for each other and our clients, creating a phenomenal work environment for everyone involved. We’re consistently looking for knowledgeable team members we can add to our crew. We were beyond delighted when Andrea, our new managing attorney, joined our team this past October. Andrea brought our team a wealth of knowledge and experience. Throughout her life, she knew she wanted to be a lawyer. Her family used to joke that she would debate the wall so she would have someone to argue with. No one was surprised when she went off to Mercer University School of Law after graduating with her undergraduate

We are thrilled to have Andrea on our team and can’t wait to see how she helps our team grow!
