I believe that we need to move toward having the capability of assisting any chamber in their growth process, no matter what stage they are in. You have so much chamber experience — why do you think chambers of commerce are so important, and what can they do to help their members? The Chamber of Commerce is important because it plays a key role in supporting and promoting the interests of businesses within a community or region. Overall, the Chamber of Commerce is a vital institution that fosters a thriving business environment, contributes to the economic health of the community, and acts as a key support system for both small and large businesses. Now, some fun ones. What was your first job ever? Working at a small local grocery store in my hometown (Brubaker’s Market). I bagged groceries, re-stocked items, cleaned shelves, swept and mopped floors and scraped gum off the parking lot, all for $3.95 an hour. I actually loved working there! What do you like to do in your free time? My free time is spent with my wife Christa and our three boys. We love to take regional trips to parks and lakes to fish, hike and be near the water. We also love watching our boys compete in sports.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and how has it influenced your life? Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. – Ferris Bueller Anything else you’d like to share? I served in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Bainbridge CGN-25 as a Missile Technician (GMM).
