THIS TEST SAVES LIVES How to Detect Colon Cancer From Your Own Home

If you are interested in trying this easy, at-home $100 test, please call 248-912-2962. We

In June, I shared the story of my father passing away from colon cancer in 1997. You may remember that I was young when this happened. I was in my mid-20s, still going through school. Dad needed surgery to remove part of his colon. This surgery is actually considered minor, but a complication caused him to pass away shortly after. Now, as a medical professional, I have a greater understanding of how colorectal cancer — commonly referred to as colon cancer — led to my father’s death. His story has stuck with me as I treat patients, some of which have faced the same disease he was battling. Unfortunately, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death, second only to heart disease. The National Cancer Institute cites colon cancer as the second- leading cause of cancer deaths. There is good news, though. Colon cancer rates have steadily decreased since the mid-1980s as more people changed their lifestyles to try to prevent this cancer. However, diagnoses among those ages 55 and under have increased by 1%–2% since the mid-’90s, according to the American Cancer Society. There is another reason why rates overall have fallen, but diagnoses among younger people are increasing: advancements in testing.

In the past, the only definitive way to detect colon cancer was through expensive colonoscopies, which were used to find irregularities in the colon. If you have ever had one, you know these not only cost a lot, but they also require serious prep work. It can be a burden. Today, colon cancer screenings can be as simple as purchasing an at-home test and sending in a stool sample. Medical experts will examine the sample for blood, which may be a sign of polyps in the colon. Polyps are bumps that grow along the colon and can be harmless. In other instances, polyps are a sign of colon cancer. This is an early detection, and if the test is positive, it’s recommended that you seek more testing from a medical professional. If you receive a negative test result, there is a 90% chance you do not have colon cancer. Speaking with a medical professional about these findings, your medical history, and current symptoms can also help determine if you have colon cancer. This is a safe, easy, and effective way to test for colon cancer. It’s recommended that those ages 40 and up take this test every year or every other year. This ensures that if cancer is detected, it’s caught early, and you have more options for treating it.

will need your name, address, and date of birth. After we receive that information, you can expect a test to arrive in the mail and then simply follow the instructions. Colon cancer doesn’t have to be the second deadliest cancer in the world. With early detection, treatments can ensure patients with a colon cancer diagnosis can go on to live full, healthy lives. PERFECT CURRIED CHICKPEA SALAD

DITCH THE CHEMICALS The Life-Changing Benefits of Organic Eating In today’s world of processed foods and chemical-laden produce, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of what we put into our bodies. By choosing organic over conventional, you’re not only nourishing yourself with wholesome, nutrient- dense ingredients, but you’re also positively impacting the environment and supporting sustainable farming practices. Let’s dive in. THE ORGANIC ADVANTAGE The primary distinction between organic and non-organic foods is how they are grown and processed. Organic farming foregoes synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, instead opting for natural, Earth-friendly methods that preserve the integrity of the soil and the crops. This means you can enjoy your fruits, veggies, and other organic goods without the burden of ingesting potentially harmful chemicals. Studies have shown that organic produce contains higher levels of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, giving your body the robust nourishment it craves. A CLEANER, GREENER FUTURE By choosing organic, you’re bettering your health and contributing to the planet’s greater good. Conventional agricultural practices have been linked to environmental degradation, from soil depletion to water pollution. On the other hand, organic farming works in harmony with nature, employing sustainable methods that replenish the land and support biodiversity. WHOLE-BODY WELLNESS Embracing an all-organic diet is about more than just the food on your plate — it’s a holistic approach to well-being that extends to every aspect of your life. Organic personal care products, for instance, are free from the harsh chemicals found in many mainstream brands, allowing you to nourish your skin and hair without exposing yourself to endocrine-disrupting compounds. You can create a healthier, more toxin-free living environment by surrounding yourself with organic textiles, cleaning supplies, and home goods. Now is the time to take control of your health and support a sustainable future. By switching to an all-organic lifestyle, you invest in your well-being and contribute to a brighter, greener world.
