Your ceremony This is your special day and there is no need to be nervous or worried; the registrars are there to help and guide you, so you can relax and enjoy the ceremony. The Ceremonies Team will help you to plan your ceremony by personalising your ceremony with vows, readings, and music. We will keep an eye on how your ceremony plans are going and will remind you if there is anything more we need from you. You can email or phone us at any time during working hours if you have questions about your ceremony. We are here to help you right up to the big day.

Readings Readings can really help to make your ceremony unique. Readings are also a wonderful way of involving friends or relatives on the day. Finding the right words to express how you feel about each other and what marriage means to you can make for some very special moments. Readings cannot contain any religious content and should be short in length. Personal Vows Some couples choose to say personal vows to each other during their ceremony. The vows could include some of the things you love most about your partner or your hopes and dreams for your future together. We can provide you with examples of additional vows or you

may wish to create your own. Personal vows cannot be religious or have any connection with a religious marriage ceremony. Music Music choices also help to make a wedding special. From traditional musical pieces written for weddings to modern pop, and everything in between, music has a powerful impact on everyone’s emotions. Religious music is only allowed at religious weddings (in a church, for example). If you’re unsure what might be suitable, let us know your music choices and we can confirm whether it is appropriate.

Don’t forget to check with your venue to make sure you bring the music in the right format (USB, iPod, CD).
