NADOA

Institute

The 44th Annual NADOA Institute is now in the books and boy what a great Institute it was! In spite of having to postpone because of Hurricane Harvey, the NADOA Institute Committee worked hard to make sure that ev- eryone who attended had a great experience. Some of our committees had to do double work because of the change in dates and we would like to especially thank our Hotel and Hospitality chairs, Stephanie Moore, Michele Law- ton, Lucretia Jones and Luanne Johnson for all the work they did not once, but twice. The weather this year seemed to be the biggest factor, not only from the hurricane. When the Board and Institute Committee arrived at the first of the week, weather was in the upper 80’s. By Tuesday afternoon the temperatures began falling and for the remainder of the week were in the upper 40’s and lower 50’s with some rain. It hasn’t been verified but I believe some of our golfers had to be thawed out after the tournament! Our Wednesday night President’s Welcome Reception had to be moved indoors due to rain and our Thursday night party was also moved inside. Speaking of our Thursday night party, if you missed it you missed some great food and entertainment! We had planned on having the Thursday night function outside at the covered pavilion at 6:00 pm. Due to some plumbing issues with the restrooms in that area, at 4:00 pm the decision was made to move inside. Mind you, the band was set up and preparations by the staff had already started outside. Our hotel contact issued an “all hands on deck” call and bam! It was amazing to watch! Hotel staff from all over the hotel headed to the ballroom to start setting up. Kudos to them for having everything ready in just two hours! A big shout out to Kristi Estes and her team for going above and beyond with the last minute change! It takes so many volunteers to put on our Institute and we want to thank all of the individuals on the many com- mittees who worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly. We had 15 committees and about 30 volunteers this year working on every aspect of Institute

from speakers to transportation to information and much more. THANKS TO ALL OF THE VOLUNTEERS! Thank you also to all of the speakers who came and gave such great presentations. I find I can always learn some- thing new even if it’s a topic I’ve heard before. We had a great range of topics and some very interesting keynote speakers. Thank you to Keane for sponsoring the escheat classes on Wednesday. All of our vendors who came out to support NADOA also deserve a thank you. We had some great vendors this year! Luckily most of them were able to make it even with the rescheduled dates. It’s always fun visiting with each of them. We also want to thank our corporate donations sponsors. Without them we couldn’t hold Institute. This includes monetary and in-kind donations, gift cards, door prizes and goody bag items. Thank you to Steve Smith and Legacy Royalties for spon- soring the entertainment for Thursday evening, Uptown Drive. They were awesome! There were a lot of people out there on the dance floor having a great time! We also want to thank everyone who attended Institute this year. We hope you that you enjoyed your experience, learned something new, caught up with old friends, made

new friends and had some fun. Cheryl Hampton & Julie Willis 2017 Institute Co-Coordinators INSTITUTE PHOTO GALLERY: https://www.facebook.com/pg/nadoa2017
