ENGL 151 - English for the Non-Native Speaker: Foundations of Academic Writing An advanced course in paraphrasing and summarizing English with intensive practice in editing. Note(s): If this is the first ELSP course required, it must be taken during the first semester of residence. Fee: Writing Lab $25. Grade Mode: A. Credit(s): 4. ENGL 152 - English for the Non-Native Speaker: Oral Skills An advanced course in using English for oral communication. Note(s): If this is the first ELSP course required, it must be taken during the first semester of residence. Grade Mode: A. Credit(s): 3. ENGL 161 - English for the Non-Native Speaker: Essay and Academic Writing An advanced course in understanding spoken and written English and using English for writing. Note(s): A passing grade of “B” permits students to enroll in departmental writing courses (i.e., undergraduate ENGL 100 or Talbot TTSS 500) the semester immediately following successful completion of 171.
