Horizon View Farms & B2/U Stock - Annual Simmental Bull & Female Sale [3/14/26]

Thank you for taking the time to look through the offering of genetics. We are very excited to offer these bulls and heifer pairs to our customers and guests. What a year it's been to be a part of the cattle business ! We are thrilled that our customers and friends are experiencing a payoff for the dedication made daily to the beef business. We understand the work load and risk factors of the business were the same at low prices as they are at the highs, and we are proud to be part of this community of hard-working cattlemen and women. We too are counting our blessings and are optimistic for more good demand ahead. We are grateful to all of you who have made careful consideration and entrusted us to be part of your genetic decisions. We do not take that responsibility lightly, and we are working every day of the year to make our stock the kind that make positive lasting impacts to your operations and your bottom dollar. Our mindset in breeding these cattle has kept with the goal of selling problem-free genetics that can perform and work Big Picture . We expect our cattle to be able to calve on their own, weigh up in the fall, collect premiums on the grid, and have the structure, udder and maternal instincts to generate over and over again. We make a big portion of our living like most of you do - in the commercial beef business - so we expect our registered seedstock to hold to the same no-nonsense standards. The heterosis advantages offered in the Simmental and SimAngus genetics have proved to excel in these areas. We are so encouraged by the success of our repeat customers and the experiences they’ve shared with us. Many have been buying genetics from us for over a decade. New sire groups make this year's group a little more special for us. We are excited to offer the first sons of our new herd sires CLRS Lincoln, WINC Lawbreaker, as well as sons by past sale highlights Legendary Larry, Kickstart, and Lesson Learned. It's been a noticeable shift in the quality and predictability of our matings with these AI sires roaming the pastures and the familiarity of the genetics that back them up. Other new and some proven staples of our program round out this powerful set of bulls. We've tried to assemble large sire groups in many instances to help our customers with consistency of their calf crop and a gauge for quality. The registered heifer pairs are sure to be a sale highlight again this year. These females are cut right from the top of the deck of our replacement pen. It will be a bittersweet experience watching them find new homes come sale day. They will all have calved before sale day so plan to bring your new pair home. Many are donor- quality females with fresh genetics standing alongside. This sale and our operation wouldn’t be possible without all the great we help we have day in and day out. I’d like to start by thanking my wife for being our main hub in getting things done and done well. She's pulled in so many directions and still manages to be the best business partner, mom and wife we could ask for. It's been rewarding and pretty humbling how fast the kids are growing and become better helpers everyday. Our daily grind guys Brode Dennis and Zach Bies help to keep things running smoothly, and I am very appreciative of the work they do all year round. To all the family and neighbors that do so much to make this day possible we are very grateful. I’m happy that we are able to continue our sale collaboration with my parents and my brother Shelby and his family on the B2U side. Their genetic decisions and passion for the business are right in line with ours, and they are a big part of getting sale day to a reality. We hope you accept this as your invitation to join us for our sale. The people met and relationships formed are the best part of the business. We are so grateful to all of you and look forward to meeting new faces as well. We give God the credit in all we accomplish, because we recognize we are nothing apart from Him. Please reach out with questions or to visit, and we hope to see you all March 14th. Colton Buus

Kicking off the 2026 Big Picture offering is this powerful set of ET brothers out of the potent Daphne DY37 donor dam. Each year she continues to impress us with the ability to take any mating, and make high- performance, power-driven cattle that have exceptional structure and eye appeal. This isn’t just an opinion. Her sons Dakota Outlaw, Spotlight, Magnified, and countless grandsons including Next Level and Legendary Larry to name just a few, prove she’s earned her accolades for generating quality. Lots 1-3 are flush brothers by Kaiser and are as powerful in the flesh as their performance suggests. Full brothers to last year’s sale highlight HZN Magnified M130, the consistency of this mating is something you can hang your hat on. The sisters in the replacement pen are as bold and sound as their brothers and look like they will have a chance to carry on the torch from their mother as influential cows in our program. Of the brothers, you pick them how you like them. Lots 1 and 2 get switched daily as to which is my favorite. Even though the Lot 3 is a month younger, at the rate he’s performing it will be hard to tell come sale day. They all have that herd bull look and may just be some of her best sons to date. Buy one or buy them all, you won’t go wrong.

The Recharge sire group has taken the breed by storm over the last few years, and the genetic combo with Daphne has us excited. We had 3 full brothers that were really well received in last year’s sale, and a full sister sells in our pairs division this year. That being said, this is the best individual yet of the mating. Big-outlined, long-bodied and smooth-made make him one you won’t miss when you walk in the pen. He should sire sensibly-sized calves at birth that will garner attention and pay weight at sale time, all while leaving daughters to build your herd with.

It’s our pleasure to introduce you to the first class of sons from our resident A.I. sire CLRS Lincoln 0107L. We added this bull to our arsenal because he fit our Big Picture Commitment to a T. Stress-free calving, big growth potential, valuable carcass trait combination and one that pushes the envelope on the indexes as well. Yet while his value on paper was impressive, it was his phenotype that sold us on bringing him home. Great looking, square and sound footed with lots of muscle and mass. A few years later and he's lived up to our expectations, but we're slowly adjusting how we use him. He's transitioned into a go-to calving ease sire that won’t sacrifice growth potential in our program and others. Get in on the ground floor on this group of sons that each have unique attributes to fit your breeding schemes.

While there's many of these brothers that could lead off this sire group, I think N38 might be the best place to start. I'm all in on this PB heifer bull prospect. He breaks the norms for balancing phenotype and genomic excellence. You can study his percentile rankings yourself, but his growth spread, carcass combination, and indexes resemble the most complete bull genomically we've ever offered. On the hoof, I just love how flexible he is in his joints and spine, the looseness of hide and body, and the beef bull look he presents. Worth a look.

Lot 5

Lot 6

Bold and shapely, this Lincoln son has some powerful visuals to go along with his top end performance expectations. Quite the spread combination going from a negative BW to a top 1% YW. Slide your evaluation over to his industry leading balance of MARB and REA, which make the indexes and overall profit expectations for his progeny high.

When we acquired Lincoln, this is exactly what I hoped for. Attractive, functional cattle that are big middled and thick ended. This one has been a favorite since early one. He's got top end WW and YW EPDs to go along with his no-holes phenotype and flashy white face.

Lot 7

Sons of CLRS Lincoln 0107L

A slam dunk heifer bull option for those of you that value your sleep. One that reads at the top of the breed for many traits, but if he produces anything like his sire, those low BW calves will get up and roll with the best of them.

The G04 cow gets the job done every year with a stout calf that just takes off. Paired with CLRS Lincoln, look for his calf crop to be very very consistent.

Lot 9

Posterchild for our balanced breeding approach, this bull’s data is as complete as any we will offer, and he looks it on the hoof as well. Strong and athletic, he’s the hard-working kind. Take a look at his video. Genetics and quality you can count on to work for you, not against you.

CLRS Lincoln 0107L Sire of lots 5 – 14

All summer when folks would ask how the Lincolns look, this bull was the first to come to mind and discuss. His head shape, birth weight, and pedigree have suggested all along he could be a heifer bull, but his performance, back shape and rear end suggests he’s serious about the beef business. I think a bull that could be sampled either way, but one that just makes sense to try and own.

Lot 11

Sons of CLRS Lincoln 0107L

A favorite among Lincoln’s rookie crop for sure, he’s been a lug all along. Added length and density help push the scales in his favor, but he’s got that attractive look to dress up a set of feeders as well. The only thing he lacks is ear length. A big portion of our AI cow group calved during the 10 days of extreme cold last February. We were thankful to save most, but a few ears were nipped in the process. I promise genetically, he’s still got ‘em.

Lot 12

Lot 13

Easy to appreciate the mass and easy feeding look this Lincoln owns. The genomics tell the story our eyes do: top end growth with carcass benefits resulting in balanced indexes and profit predictions. Born a twin, he’s got lots of genetic potential to out-produce himself

Best on best. That was the thought that came to mind when turning out Lincoln on our 834 donor, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Tremendous prospect that impresses us more each day. He’s got that smooth herd bull look from his sire, with the body shape and extra bells and whistles from his dam. He’s been hustling every day on gain as well with ratios of 114 WW and 106 YW. One we’ve been excited to present to the public since the time he hit the ground last spring. This bull is bred just a little different than the rest of the pen, but that just adds to his intrigue. We were very impressed with the JWC 2/F Living Proof 283L bull when he sold a few years back and mated him to 3 of our donors that spring. This is the only bull resulting from those matings, but you will be hearing from the rest of the sisters in the near future. He’s every bit as good on the hoof as his picture and video. A useful balance of birthweight and growth projections, paired with his impressive weight at weaning make him one that can be used successfully in both commercial and seedstock settings. He is backed by powerful cow families such as W/C Angel 7113E and our young K182 donor, a direct daughter of 834.

Lot 15

High selling standout in 2024 to Jackpot Cattle Co., SD, HZN Legendary Larry has exceed our expectations. His first calf crop shows he’s got the top tier performance we expect from the Outlaw progeny, but does it with more class and eye appeal. Docility, jet black hair coats, and flexibility only add to the goods “Larry” brings to the table. He will continue to see heavy use in our program going forward.

Lot 16

Love this one. Breeding beef ideals always begin with structure for me, and this bull has the foot quality, angles and flexibility that get my motor running. Beyond that, he’s bold-bodied, loose-hided and powerfully made with just the right amount of style and masculine presence. Intriguing breeding bull sells here.

Lot 17

Smooth made, quality physique. Jet black and keeps coming on strong daily. He’s one you will love when we deliver this spring. Built to last.

HZN Legendary Larry L177 Sire of lots 16 & 17

Well balanced baldy Outlaw sells here. His highlights include a durable skeleton with the length and mass we expect from this sire group. His full sister is a highlight of our keeper bred heifer pen this year, and was shown successfully by our 8 yr. old Eli as a feeder heifer at the State Fair. Full transparency, this bull got worked up on picture day but has handled fine with the group on other work days.

Sons of HZN Legendary Larry L177

It’s no secret the successful impact Dakota Outlaw has had on our program and our customers’ programs over the years. With virtually no semen left outside of a few to flush with, these will be some of the last direct sons available.

If you haven’t had a chance to get yourself a son of Outlaw yet, N231 would be a very good place to start. He’s definitely one of my favorite Outlaw sons we’ve offered over the years. Big scaled, loose made, but so pulled apart and dimensional throughout. Big time growth with very top-end percentile rankings for WW, YW, ADG, yield grade, BF, and REA make him one to put on your short list. His dam is the biggest and best Epic daughter on the farm with a perfect udder. Lot 19

Lot 20

We started to fight dark and snow when this bull came to the picture pen, so I would encourage you to watch his video. Likely one of the most complete D.O. sons we’ve offered. He’s so balanced on the hoof, problem free in his EPD set, and still weighed up with the best of them at data collection time. His dam is a moderate, wedge-shaped female with excellent udder structure that looks to be a big-time contributor going forward. Lots of boxes get the check here.

Lot 21

One of the youngest calves in the pen but you’d never guess it. He’s been on a mission to be one of the fastest gaining bulls of the group and you can’t argue with what he’s

done, especially from weaning to yearling. His dam is out of the Angus bull Slider and goes back to an Angus commercial dam, so his numbers get dinged a bit for that. But commercial producers serious about quality livestock and performance should bid with confidence here. The growth is real - his phenotype is just the way I like them.

Sons of KRJ Dakota Outlaw G974

Introducing the first crop of our resident herd sire WINC Law Breaker 376L! A bull we brought in to add more mass, volume, shape, and performance at will and he’s done just that. Between AI breeding many cows to him and also being an aggressive breeder in the pasture, we’ve got a large sire group we hope will benefit our commercial producers for their consistency and the ability to run several brothers together. They are peas in a pod from start to finish.

Brode and Zach have had their eyes on this guy all along. Last spring he was continually part of our calf discussions. “Have you seen K399’s calf lately?” He’s kept that quality vibe all the way through and finishes with the #2 YW of the set. Circle, star, and get ready to bid - he will make everybody’s list.

Lot 22

While this sire group is very consistent, if you had to twist my arm to name a favorite or two, this bull sure rises to the top. I think you’ll agree when you step in the pen, he’s one everyone can be drawn to. He’s got the herd bull swagger and is so dense from front to rear but in a very attractive way. He’s looked the part all year, pressed down the scales in a big way, and is exactly what we hoped for from the Law Breaker influence.

Lot 23

LOT 24 A few different options come along with this Law Breaker son. He’s packing plenty of punch just like his brothers, but comes with a modest actual birthweight and an impressive spread from birth to yearling. More eye appeal is also in his favor. He’s the kind that fits the “auto cow” program many of our repeat customers desire - low management traits with big end payoff potential. Lot 24

Lot 25

Study your lesson here - this younger Law Breaker son is a maternal brother to our leadoff bull last year, HZN Mr. Kickstart M34, selling to Rathes in NE. Their dam, K31, has had the top WW of the entire bull crop two years in a row with ratios of 2/116 on WW and 2/115 for YW. The EPD rankings for growth are off the charts, yet his carcass indicators show lots of premium potential as well. His growth is complimented by an easy feeding look and gentle disposition.

Lot 26

Just like you used to sing in Sunday school, “deep and wide” sums up this soggy rascal well. His adjustments for growth sum up his quality well. Pay weight headed your way.

Top 10% on his growth projections with extra length and body depth. The built-in consistency and maternal strength of Cowboy Cut and Nightride in his pedigree complement his performance driven lifestyle.

Sons of WINC Law Breaker 376L

Bigger framed baldy bull here that I’m sure will find some friends on sale day. Add pounds and style. His growth and REA are big selling points, and his dam, granddam, and sister are all beautiful baldy cows with excellent udders and fertility records.

Brute. Arguably the heaviest muscled bull in the offering, he’s a body builder with a gentle giant demeanor. This bull offers our commercial customers the chance to change their calf crop in one generation with breed-leading performance and unmatched red meat yield potential.

Meat & Potatoes Award

Lot 32

Our annual Meat & Potatoes Award is one that is coveted among the bull pen and is a selection the committee takes very seriously. That being said, if we were to snub the widest built, deepest bodied bull to ever call HVF home of the award, that would be a mistake. A true outlier for volume, dimension, and hasn’t stepped off the gas for ADG a singe day yet. His mother Karol was an amazing Christmas gift from my parents a few years back, and she out produced herself with a Christmas dinner-sized portion of beef this year.

A favorite all along, this bull brings all the extras and he’s proud to wear them. At the top of the pen at weaning time and hasn’t looked back. He’s long and strong and ready for heavy ranching.

Last year, the rookie crop of HZN Kickstarts captured the attention of breeders and commercial cattlemen alike. One of my favorite sire groups, they are at the top of the pen for performance, mass and style. So much so, it’s hard to believe they are all out of first calf heifers. Bid with confidence - the consistency, quality, and cow family are all worth your operations’ consideration.

LOT 34 Go ahead and get your pen out and start making a few stars on this lot. He’s the type that will work and work well in a variety of scenarios. 76lb birthweight to 1378 at a year, this long-bodied stout-featured rascal has impressed at every step along the way.

Lot 35

Lot 36

More frame and length in this Kickstart son. He’s pushed down the scales each step of the way. Could certainly sample on some heifers, but might really shine on a group of younger cows. Still has the density and style his sire stamps his progeny with.

With a top 5% calving ease ranking and just a 70lb start to a 1259 finish makes me think he’s one we should keep back to replace his sire on heifers going forward. In the pen, I’ve been on his team from the get-go. He’s stout and flawless at the ground, yet so smooth and powerful in his makeup. He pairs this with a touch of arrogance in the way he carries his head and neck, giving him the complete bull look we strive to make. Neat one.

HZN Kickstart K328 Sire of lots 33-37

Just like his picture, you can’t help but find this beast in the pen. From a 76lb BW and a first calf heifer momma, he’s pushed the boundaries for growth all year to a big-time finish. He is as robust as any from end to end, and his predictable pedigree and proven performance make him an easy add to any outfit.

How do I read EPD? An EPD is not a measure of that animal's own genetic ability, but rather its ability as a parent. Thus, it is expressed as progeny differences. This means that you should only compare the difference between EPD in candidate animals. For example:

Bull A: Has a CE of 12 and a WW of 50 Bull B: Has a CE of 8 and a WW of 70

Total Herd Enrollment (THE) We are proud participants of the American Simmental Association’s Total Herd Enrollment (THE) program. THE enhances the impact and utility of our data submitted for genetic evaluation, which in turn improves the EPD accuracy across our whole operation. By submitting data on our dams and entire calf crops, more accurate genetic predictions are received by us and our customers. If we compared the difference between both candidate bulls for Calving Ease (CE) and Weaning Weight EPD (WW), then we would expect on average 4% less incidence of difficulty during calving of direct progeny from Bull A compared to Bull B. We would also expect progeny from Bull B to weigh on average 20 pounds heavier compared to progeny from Bull A at 205 days of age. Don’t forget that dam genetics will cause differences in performance of the traits as well. For more questions, please reach out to us ahead of the sale, or find us on sale day.

N167 is just what we hoped for when combining the likes of Just Cuz and Dakota Outlaw. An athlete with performance and style. His phenotype speaks for itself, but his momma really stacks the deck in his favor. One of our best Outlaw daughters in production and one that is a gate swing away from the donor pen. This bull will make fancy feeders and replacement quality females in groves. Neat blazed face is the cherry on top.

HZN Ms. Dakota Outlaw K151 Dam of lot 38

LOT 39 I’d like to point out that he’s a lot more than just a “pretty face,” but dog gone it he’s a good-looking scamp. He possesses an elite phenotype that demands your attention. His big feet can motor and he blends his powerful muscle and body shape so well. His pedigree is backed with loads of maternal strength, including Pilgrim, High Regard, Teardrop, and the LLSF Neon Ray cow family. He’s the kind that can certainly garner additional premiums for quality depending on your marketing scheme of his offspring. If high end phenotype isn’t the only thing that matters to you, that’s ok too. At over 700 at weaning and over 1200 at a year, he’s no slouch for commercial profit generation as well. Good livestock sells here.

We are pleased to introduce the L68 cow family with this scale crushing direct son of our new and upcoming donor HZN Ms. War Paint L68. The spread from birth to weaning and gain from weaning to yearling isn’t just ink on the paper, its real pounds in the pen. This bull is one of the longest bodied, stoutest featured individuals in the set. His dam is off to a roaring start. We flushed her 2 times last spring successfully then watched her sync up A.I. with her contemporary group all while getting this rascal to over 800lb in the weaning pen. She just had a beautiful set of twins herself and her ET matings about to hit the ground have us jacked up. Bid with confidence!

I love these Just Cuz calves - and mated to probably the stoutest cow on the farm - this is the kind of buffet I like to go to!

CCR Anthem is a bull we came across on our road trip to see the Jacks defeat the Bison for their 1st National Football Championship. It was a great trip all around, and being able to use these genetics in our program only added to the fun. The Anthem cattle added some size and scale to our genetics and improved carcass traits while keeping growth and structural correctness at the forefront. I think you’ll agree, these brothers will be sought after come March 14th.

One we’ve liked all along, but truth be told when he came into the picture pen it was like “Whoa! What the heck is this?!” Balance and mass coming together at its finest. He’s the cowboy kind, and a bull I could recommend to everyone.

Lot 42

Performance seekers and feedlot operators take note here. This bull has been on the top end for growth and power since day 1. Extra pounds, ADG, and an excellent balance of REA and marbling will make his progeny fun to feed. Has excellent feet and legs and is built for the long haul and heavy use. Good beef.

Lot 43

Lot 44

Eye catching Anthem son with a small white dot on his face. Big topped with a big square hip. Balanced set of EPDs read a lot like he does - a “no holes” type bull that will sire growth and eye appeal.

N345 holds his own for performance and eye appeal, but does so with greater calving ease and smaller birthweight projections than some of his brothers. He’s so neat and smooth about his head, neck, and shoulder that I wouldn’t be afraid to try him on some heifers, but with his added length and gain ability he would be more than suitable for cows as well.

Lots of horsepower in this beef machine. This bull has loads of shape and dimension, and is complimented by his balanced set of EPDs. His granddam has been a big part of our story over the last 12 years, with many bulls being exhibited at farm shows and stock shows. Generational consistency bred in.

Lot 46

Attractive, square built, smooth moving Anthem son sells here. His EF Commando 1366 sired grandam has been a great producer for us as well.

Lot 47

If you want the biggest outlined powerhouse scamp of the set, here’s your bull. He’s had “beast mode” engaged since the get-go. Producers looking to create consistency and pad their bottom lines would be well suited to group these Anthem brothers together.

Bold made, growth-oriented heifer bull prospect sells here. 68lb BW to right at 700 pounds of WW make him one to use confidently on all ages in your herd. We haven’t had at ton of the Arrowhead cattle but we really like what we see so far.

This first crop of these Leaders have really impressed us with their get up and go. Crossing him with the KBHR Providence cow really gives an out-cross pedigree you could line up any direction.

Lot 50

Lot 51

I really appreciate what this bull did on the scale and on paper being out of a first calf heifer. Study the cow family here going back to the H02 cow. You’ll be seeing more from this dam going forward.

Neat design and cool shaped, structure to last and should certainly work on heifers as well.

Bulls of the Big Picture

Lot 53

Excited about the future of our herd with young females kicking out bulls like this right out of the gate. A brute in the pen, and ties some very exciting things together genomically. Modest birth figures to whopping percentiles on growth and bigger than the plate ribeyes make this PB bull one that can make anyone’s shortlist.

The Krown cattle are a new group this year, and this pair of brothers are cut from the same cloth. N190 offers loads of length and muscle and breed leading growth projections. We had more heifers born than bulls in this sire group, and so far, we like what we see. Well-rounded sires that will add pay weight and grid premiums

Just a drink away from 1400lb at a year, and this hoss looks the part. There’s a lot of bull here but he carries it well. Bigger outlined with all the parts and pieces to transmit those profit generating qualities to the next generation. He will improve the bottom line no matter how you market your cattle.

1772A does it again. This 2013 model cow has been a long time favorite because of her phenotype, perfect udder, and ability to kick out herd bulls year after year. She’s still at work in 2026, coming with yet again another AI sired calf. While this bull maybe doesn’t have the wow factor on the growth adjustments as his mom is getting older, we strongly believe the genetic ability is there to sire calves that grow, impress, and have tremendous female making ability should you choose to retain daughters.

Well rounded purebred bull that had an excellent summer and came in heavy this fall. “Complete” best sums up this bull and the Kaiser sire group. Beautiful udder on both dam and grandam as well.

Easy to find, easy to like. This baldy Kaiser bull is a “no holes” rascal that would make turnout day really easy. He’s one you’ll be proud to have in any pasture and will cross well with many types and ages of cows. The Kaiser group is so consistent for making them bold, easy fleshing, and heavy muscled. Good stock.

Lot 60

When this cow got flushed Kaiser, this is exactly what we hoped for. Bold from behind, soft centered, and legs for the long haul. Take note, he does have a little extra personality when worked in smaller pens.

The War Paint sire group has been really well accepted, and for good reason. Good in his joints, smooth angles, and just complete from head to tail.

Lot 62

Well balanced bull with just a 74lb BW and still accelerated to over 700 at weaning. If you came wanting a bull you can kick out with many ages of cattle and just want to make good ones consistently, this bull is a great option. He’s one of my favorite phenotype War Paints we’ve had to date. Both the bulls and females have worked very well here.

Easy to find, easy to love. This baldy War Paint son has had the beef bull look all along. So robust yet flexible, his power-based setup is complimented by a small birthweight and solid weaning figures. We love our War Paint females, and you will see their influence sprinkled throughout this offering and into the future. N70 will make lots of friends on sale day.

LOT 80 When we started offering females from the heart of our herd a few years back, we knew the only way to do this successfully was to offer our very best. In keeping with that philosophy, we initiate the female division with the one that probably hurts the most to see go. M108, known as “Slash” around these parts has been a farm favorite since she hit the ground. Her dam has been a consistent producer of front-end quality year after year. To get this snip nosed Just Cuz female was just what the doctor ordered. The kids showed her as a calf at the SD State Fair and a few fall shows before she went into the bred heifer pen. As gorgeous has her picture, she’s got the parts and pieces as well as the intangibles to generate quality at an extremely high level. Her baldy bull calf by Kickstart solidifies that opinion. He’s already a stud in his own right and will be a fast ROI on this investment no matter the hammer price. Maternal brothersells as lot 56.

LOT 81 A little something different from our Daphne donor, but not surprisingly something of quality. This female was at the top of the entire heifer crop at weaning last year, and has since transitioned into a beautiful young cow. She’s off to the races with a stout bull calf and beautiful udder. Her pedigree will allow lots of mating flexibility and the cow power behind her will ensure success whatever you decide.
