By a sk in g one o r tw o q u estions she fo u n d th a t th e old lady had n e v er a cc ep te d C h rist as h e r S aviour, a l­ th o u g h she w ould be 75 y e a r s .of a g e in a few m onths. In h e r y o u n g w om anhood shfe h a d m a rried a n a g n o stic a n d to keep p e ac e sh e h a d given u p going to c h u rch a n d h a d raised a larg e fam ily in th e sam e w ay. S he felt she w as now too old, h av ­ in g p u t off h e r soul’s salvation all these years, a lth o u g h she k new she h a d no t m u ch lo n g er to live a n d w as going to a C hristless grave. In h e r childhood days h e r m o th e r h ad m ade h e r, w ith th e o th er children, comm it to m em ory th e fo u r Gos­ pels, a n d as th e Bible w om an re p ea te d th e different verses of S crip tu re, th e old lady w ould stop h e r a n d sa y : “W ait, dearie,** th en sh e w ould finish th e verse, saying: “You b rin g b a ck to m y rem em b ran ce th e verses 1 lea rn ed w hen 1 w as a child a n d w hich 1 h ad forgotten,** fulfilling th e p ro m ­ ise -o f Jo h n 14:26. W h a t a blessed tim e th ey h a d w hen she finally said, “ 1 a cc ep t H im , now,** a n d a fte r re ad in g R om ans 10:9-10, to “ confess Him,** she said, “ T h a t w ill b e h a rd , b u t I will.** W ith th e tea rs stream in g dow n h e r cheeks she th an k e d th e visitor, declaring, “ God sen t y o u here this afternoon.**
