In order to earn an SB 2042 Clear Credential, the candidate must first hold a Preliminary Credential. To clear the credential, California requires completion of a CCTC- approved induction program at the candidate’s employing district. Most surrounding school districts offer CCTC- approved induction programs. Candidates who take an induction program through their employing school district to clear their credential are invited to apply to Biola University Master’s programs. As students take CCTC-approved induction programs, they may earn units in the M.A. in Education or M.A. in Teaching (up to a total of 12 induction units) for a reduced rate of one-third the normal tuition for those 12 units. Students may apply up to 12 units of Biola student teaching graduate credit to their M.A. in Education or M.A. in Teaching in lieu of induction units. However, if the candidate presents a verification letter from the employing agency indicating that an induction program is not available, he or she may apply for the 30- unit approved Clear Credential Program at Biola University which includes the courses listed under the Clear Credential Course Requirements below.
Teachers wishing to submit an application for National Board Certification may take the courses listed below to support this goal. These courses along with professional mentoring, will provide support, feedback, and guidance during the development of a professional portfolio focusing on teaching practice; development of personal growth plans; implementation of strength-based instruction; analysis of student achievement; and mentoring in pedagogical decision-making.

SB 57 Options for Private School Teachers Long-term employees in private schools (three or more years) may qualify for having student teaching and (for six or more years) teaching methodology courses waived under SB57 legislation. See an advisor for details. Student Teaching Under Contract Candidates who are already full-time teachers in public schools or WASC–accredited private schools, may interview to student teach under contract. If approved, public school candidates remain in their full-time teaching position while fulfilling all requirements for student teaching. Private school candidates will fulfill half of the student teaching requirements at the private school; the other half of student teaching will most often be fulfilled during the summer in a public school setting. See an advisor for details. Candidates with less than two years of teaching experience must successfully complete the course listed below prior to student teaching.
Official documents presented for admission or evaluation become part of the student’s academic file and normally cannot be returned or copied for distribution.
