Psychological Foundations of Education Reading Process & Approaches 3 Critical analysis of the processes and dynamics of reading as well as the methods and materials for teaching reading in the elementary and secondary schools. Theoretical models of reading, emergent literacy, current issues in literacy and instruction, and the assessment and evaluation of reading are also discussed. Prerequisite: 520 or 525. 3 Writing as a process, its interrelationship to reading, cognition and to linguistic and contextual issues. Examination of Writing Process & Approaches current problems, instructional research, theories, methods of instruction and materials, programs, technology assessment, and professional publication process. 3 Addresses numerous theoretical and practical considerations related to the nature and causes of reading difficulties and disabilities, including techniques and materials for individual diagnosis. Instruction provided in regard to clinical and classroom techniques, evaluation and use of materials for the remediation of reading disabilities and active participation in an instructional program.
