TTNT 703 - The Cultural Setting of the Gospels Credits 2-3 An examination of such things as Jewish religious beliefs and customs, the political situation, urban life, folk belief, ethnic issues, language, Greco-Roman religious beliefs and customs, and other cultural phenomena that form the relevant background to the Gospels. Consideration of the contribution of this book to knowledge of the expansion and life of the early Church. Introduction to critical issues in the book, with emphasis upon its importance and its historicity. Comparison of style with that of Luke's gospel. Note(s): Elective.
