Anne Arundel County Public Library Newsletter Spring 2026

Plan Your Spring Giving for the Library! From April 1–8, we invite you to celebrate all the ways your library enriches our community. Your support during this week-long celebration helps keep programs, resources, and opportunities available for everyone. Your generosity drives programs like Summer@Your Library (S@YL), which in 2025: • Inspired more than 5,600 children, teens and adults to engage with summer reading and activities. • Drew over 70,000 people to events celebrating reading, art, music and more. You can make 2026 our best S@YL yet. Every dollar makes an impact, and your support ensures beloved programs like S@YL and others continue to thrive. Look for more information on Library Giving Week and Summer @ Your Library in your email this spring! I am pretty excited to get the whole family involved in these

Your Donation in Action: Spring Sprucing at the Branches Spring is in the air—and so is fresh energy across our 16 library branches. Thanks to generous community support, our spaces are becoming even more welcoming, comfortable and inspiring. At the Broadneck branch, a new pedestal table and chairs have quickly become a gathering spot for families reading together, students meeting tutors, and customers working, writing and playing games. One regular even calls it their daily “writing spot”—proof that big ideas can start at the library. The Crofton Library lobby also got a refresh, featuring a new café-style table with built-in outlets and flexible seating for all ages. It’s already become a place to study, connect and relax. Just last summer, teens gathered there over ice cream and conversation. These updates are possible because of donors like you. Every gift helps create spaces where people connect, learn and belong. Did You Know? Over 56% of county children aren’t ready for kindergarten, according to the county’s assessment. Thanks to donors like you, AACPL is addressing this critical issue. This year, we’ve invested $45,000 in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and allocated over $11,000 more to support it.
