Pre-Law Minor The American Bar Association does not specifically recommend any particular undergraduate major as primary preparation for law school. However, the Department of History, Government & Social Science offers a minor in Pre-Law to prepare students who intend to go on to law school after graduation from Biola. Biola graduates are equipped with excellent reading comprehension, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to write clear and effective prose, oral communication skills, and the experience of serving other people. The successful completion of a challenging undergraduate program and a high score in the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is the most appropriate preparation for law school. At Biola, pre-law students are encouraged to earn the Pre-Law Minor (18 upper division units) under Political Science while working to complete major requirements. Pre-Law students should select an academic program that includes an understanding of history, human behavior, and social and political institutions. Law schools typically are made up of students with undergraduate degrees in History, Political Science, Communication Studies, English, Sociology or Philosophy. Biola University curriculum, composed of an undergraduate major, general education, a biblical studies requirement, along with a Pre- Law Minor, provides a solid foundation for graduate work at law school. The Biblical Studies program contributes to a biblical and theological framework on which to build a Christian perspective on the practice of law, especially in the areas of values and ethics.
