EPDs Explained
CED (Calving Ease Direct) – Difference in ease of calving for first-calf heifers; higher values indicate fewer assisted births. BW (Birth Weight) – Genetic prediction of calf birth weight; lower values generally reduce calving difficulty. WW (Weaning Weight) – Expected difference in calf weight at 205 days. YW (Yearling Weight) – Expected difference in calf weight at 365 days. Milk (Milk/Maternal Milk) – Genetic potential for milk production in daughters, expressed in calf weaning weight. Marb (Marbling) – Genetic potential for intramuscular fat and quality grade. RE (Ribeye Area) – Expected difference in ribeye muscle size. We have included the breed EPDs for easy evaluation. EPDs across breeds do differ so feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about comparisons across breeds.
