DECATUR (GA) ALUMNI CHAPTER Legacies Unfolding
Brother Israel Beard, a dedicated member of Kappa Alpha Psi, has shown unwavering commitment to both his fraternity and his career. Brother Beard was initiated into the Beta Lambda Chapter in 1955 at Lane College. After a stint in the military, Brother Beard pursued a career in education, earning advanced degrees, while actively contributing to Kappa Alpha Psi, notably in the Milwaukee (WI) Alumni Chapter. Having personally met some of its founders and influential members, he reflects with pride on the fraternity's growth and international impact. Beard attended the fraternity's Centennial Celebration in 2011, envisioning a promising future for Kappa Alpha Psi. Now residing in Decatur, Georgia with his family, he remains a steadfast advocate for the fraternity's enduring legacy. Recently, Brother Beard's son-in-law, Brother Bryon Daily, and his grandson, Brother Eric Daily, were initiated into the Decatur (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi on March 16th, 2024, adding to Beard's legacy and making the 21 Kutz of Kimberlite a unique chapter by having a son-in-law and grandson on the same line. With Brother Bryon Daily and Brother Eric Daily embracing the fraternity's principles, a new chapter in their family's Kappa journey began. As they embarked on their paths toward Kappa Land, Brother Beard couldn't help but reflect on his own initiation and early experiences, realizing the profound impact the fraternity had on his life. The 21 Kutz of Kimberlite boasts another trio legacy. Brother Eugene Wesley, who was also initiated into Decatur (GA) Alumni via the Spring 2024 Line, is part of the legacy that includes Uncle, James E. Willingham, Jr. (Decatur (GA) Alumni, Spring 2022) and Grandfather, James E. Willingham, Sr. (Pittsburgh (PA) Alumni Spring 1990). Brother Eugene Wesley's lineage, stretching across generations, underscores the rich tapestry of connections within the Decatur Alumni Chapter. Their shared history serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of Kappa Alpha Psi, inspiring both current and future members to uphold its traditions with pride and honor. As the chapter welcomed these new members and celebrated its heritage, Brother Beard and Brother Willingham found themselves filled with optimism for the future of their legacies in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Each day reaffirmed their beliefs in the fraternity's lasting impact on the lives of its members, reinforcing the values of brotherhood, service, and achievement that have guided Kappa Alpha Psi for generations. The Decatur (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi embraces and reveres the continuous lineage of these families as we continue to embrace ACHIEVEMENT in every field of human endeavor.
