The brothers of the Southeastern Province returned to the Charleston, South Carolina area to handle the annual business of our great fraternity. The last Province Council held in Charleston was in 2018 and hosted by the Charleston (SC) Alumni Chapter. For the 98th Southeastern Province Council, the six chapters of the Lowcountry Coalition of Kappas, also known as the LoCK, worked together to bring a unique province council experience to brothers of the Southeastern Province, their Silhouettes, and visiting guests. The LoCK consists of the Beaufort-Jasper- Hilton Head (SC) Alumni, Charleston (SC) Alumni, Moncks Corner (SC) Alumni, Walterboro (SC) Alumni Chapters along with the undergraduate brothers from the College of Charleston Chapter, the Eta Iota, and
the Charleston Southern University Chapter, the Omicron Mu. All the registered delegates and brothers were greeted with smiling faces, warm hospitality, and custom-branded flasks from A Nupe’s Kloset. 98th Southeastern Province Council officially opened with our Public Meeting held at the Charleston Area Convention Center. the event was well attended by brothers, their Silhouettes, members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and community members. Brother Raphael James, the Evening Anchor at one of the local news stations, served as the Master of Ceremonies. Those in attendance were greeted by Reginald Burgess, Mayor of the City of North Charleston; Kendra Woody-Simmons, President of the Charleston Chapter of the NPHC; and
Janice Coats-Hardy, the Southeastern Province Silhouettes Coordinator. National Gospel Recording Artist and local native Kelontae Gavin provided electrifying entertainment as the special guest for the event. As part of the Public Meeting, the host chapter(s) present service awards to deserving members of their communities. Each chapter of the LoCK presented these awards to individuals selected by their members. The awardees were: ‣ Brother Larry Sanders by the Beaufort-Jasper-Hilton Head (SC) Alumni Chapter ‣ Enoch Dickerson, III, Mayor of Lincolnville, SC, by the Charleston (SC) Alumni Chapter ‣ Gregory Perry by the Moncks
