Travel time: 3 hours Known for: Charming history and downtown, Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn. Check out: If you want to splurge for the weekend stay at the Grove Park Inn for an amazing throw back in time experience. Check out the Biltmore House and grab lunch or dinner at Curate. If you want to stay downtown without the price of Grove Park, The Foundry is my favorite.
PIGEON FORGE, TN
Travel time: 3 hours 45 minutes Known for: Beautiful mountain town with Dollywood, amazing food and beautiful landscape to hike. Check out: The drive to Pigeon Forge is a retreat in itself. Stay in the Dollywood Hotel and the cinnamon bread is a MUST. The Olde Mill Restaurant has the best food around and the vibe is even better but get on the list - you could be waiting for hours if you don’t. There are many beautiful hikes with my personal favorite being Grotto Falls.
HIGHLANDS, NC
Travel time: 2 hours Known for: Upscale mountain town with waterfalls, foliage, and cozy inns.
Check out: Secret Falls — not on most tourist maps and worth the short hike. Old Edwards Inn is stunning. Highlands Wine Shoppe for curated tastings. The Ugly Dog Pub for casual live music, always lively and dog-friendly!
