Destination Denim

True Religion

Carnaby is home to some of the most groundbreaking and unique denim brands in the world, with flagship stores galore stacked with the very best of the new season’s collections. Here’s your go-to guide.

Levi’s

Replay

With a cracking store on Carnaby Street, Levi’s has held the crown for denim royalty since 1873. This season, the brand is jumping head first into the sneaker and streetwear age, creating styles that mix today’s trends (like splashy graphics, high-rise jeans and logo mania) with flashbacks to the coolest looks from the 80s and 90s. And while skinny fits aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, the world of denim has opened up into a new wide array of silhouettes, from faded 90s 501® jeans à la Kurt Cobain, the high-waisted jeans of Friends Season One, to the retro sportswear of Diddy when he was still Daddy (first name Puff). And, of course, plenty of cropped and tapered jeans to show off those kicks. Over on Newburgh Street, Levi’s Vintage Clothing Shop takes inspiration this season from the 1978 Jamaican film ‘Rockers’, and the colourful dance hall and reggae styles of that era. There are Sta-Prest trousers, denim skirts and even a pair of 70s-style flares. Corduroy features heavily too, with a 14-wale cord jean and Trucker jacket that features a patchwork of 11 different colours.

True Religion is focusing on fit, fabric and texture for both men and women. There are vintage-inspired heritage wash bottoms and edgy sportif tops, and for women comes The Perfect Jean, with a back yoke dart to shape and slim. Replay has its new Hyperflex + jeans, which have three-dimensional flexibility in the threads, ensuring a perfect fit that holds its shape. Black denim is big news. For men, there’s the new Ambass slim-fit biker jean, and for women the fresh Luz skinny fit. Head to Diesel for ripped and repaired treatments with a nod to iconic archive items. Babhila High is the new, higher-rise version of the skinny Babhila fit for women. And there are plenty of oversized silhouettes joining the JoggJeans and biker pants. Pepe Jeans London has Raw and Selvedge denim specials in hoodies, skirts, jackets and jeans. The Ragged Priest is perhaps the edgiest kid on the block, with ripped and slogan-adorned denim in a variety of fits. (Their autumn/winter collection is based around sports utility, hiking and climbing, with bold slogans).
